Install problem & Geek Squad UPS
...PS is not supported how do I proceed. I have been a programmer for 35 years(mostly high level computer aided design), written code in 20 some languages, am retired and it is cold outside so I am mostly at my computers. I have very limited work on Linux/Unix. I did get Apache web server running (redden.homeip.net). If someone can point me in the right direction I will try to get it working. Cyber Power Systems makes the GS1285U and they say that it shares some of the commands with the Cyber Power Systems 685AVR. Here is the info from my system. I ran hidups on all my USB devices. Shutdown problem with Geek Squad GS1285U
Nut will monitor the ups and shutdown Linux when the ups goes to low battery as it should. But the UPS is not shut down so the system will restart when the power is restored. If I switch the UPS off , restore power and switch the UPS on the system will restart. I have not been able to get nut to switch the UPS off after it brings the system down. I can get the UPS to switch off with upscmd

Geek Squad UPS Systems

newhidups output for Geek Squad GS1285U

I did not want it to be powered down by accident. When I get to testing it I will use a dummy load. gary@redden-p700-610:~/downloads/nut/nut-2.0.5$ sudo ./drivers/newhidups -DD -u root auto Network UPS Tools: 0.28 USB communication driver 0.28 - core 0.30 (2.0.5) debug level is '2' Checking device (0764/0501) (001/002) - VendorID: 0764 - ProductID: 0501 - Manufacturer: CPS - Product: GS 1285U - Se...

Install question
I downloaded nut-2.0.5 and followed the install instructions down to step 6. Since I will be using a USB port to connect to the Geek Squad GS 1285U did not go any farther yet. I tried to run "/lib/nut/hidups -DD -u root auto" to see if it found my UPS. But it is still the old hidups 0.13 from nut-2.0.3. Do I need to do something additional to get the new hidups?
