install failure
Hello, i am trying to install "Middle School Success Essentials" from Topics Education, on my 0.9.28 wine installation, which works OK with some MS progs. The initial (unpacking?) progress bar completes and then i get the error below, without any recourse. Does anyone have any ideas? (FWIW, the error is shown in the installer box when you click on the "Details" button). identify() and controlling label size
I thought this was going to be easy ... Can the label size of identify() be controlled by setting par(cex.*) because I'm having no luck? My only recourse is to save the index and position of the labels from identify() and use text() to replot them. OpenSSL on CentOS 3.4?
...entOS 3.4 box. According to yum, the OpenSSL 0.9.7a-33.15 package I have installed is the latest available. A check of the OpenSSL website shows 0.9.7g source being the latest. Is the CentOS 0.9.7a package patched to cover the same isues that the generic 0.9.7 source covers? If not, what's my recourse? Build it by hand? If I need to build it, has anybody crossed that bridge? Thanks. -Pete

Access to internal UPS logs?
...rsion if usbhid-ups to talk to a HP T/R2200 G2, which is internally a TrippLite UPS. The UPS is randomly turning off its output power, at intervals of once every week or two, even though during this failure it reports that input and output voltages are still around 248V (240V is nominal). The only recourse is to reboot the UPS. HP are sending a replacement unit as AFAICT it reports that everything is otherwise okay and so is obviously broken, but if there were some internal logs somewhere it would be useful to get access to them. This failure mode occurred the first time before any USB or serial ca...

Problem after crash during yum update
I was doing a "yum -y update" on a CentOS 4.5 system to get to 4.6 when my system froze. I couldn't ping it nor switch to an alternate console. It was completely frozen. The only recourse was to cycle the power. So I did that, and now when I try to do a "yum update" I get the following error: [many package header downloads deleted] tkinter-2.3.4-14.4.el4_6. 100% |=========================| 21 kB 00:00 ---> Package tkinter.i386 0:2.3.4-14.4.el4_6.1 set to be...

Request for help with UBSAN and total absense of CRAN response
.../tests/runUnitTests.Rout http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/bdr/memtests/UBSAN/RcppAnnoy/tests/runUnitTests.Rout I asked politely (and twice) for help with the corresponding compiler configuration(s). But CRAN is of course way above communicating with mere mortals such as yours truly. So I have no recourse other than to spam all of you: if anybody here has a working UBSAN setup which can replicate the issue seen in the (rather small) RcppAnnoy package? Erik (upstream for Annoy, CC'ed) and I would be most grateful. We do not like being held hostage on an error report we cannot replicate and for...

Am not able to create a XenU Domain forFedoraCore 4
Greetings and Happy Holiday Season: I filed an open issue with Fedora installer and rpm because of the same error. I was suggested to look in the xend-debug.log for detailed logs on the problem. This is enabled in nano /etc/xen/xend-config.sxp by adding the following lines (logfile /var/log/xend.log.debug) (loglevel DEBUG) then removing the logs rm -f /var/log/xend.log rm -f

Problems migrating from WBEL
...;use BerkeleyDB; my $db = BerkeleyDB::Env->new() or die "blah";' This leads me to believe that something is wrong with db4, so I upgraded (--force) to the CentOS db4 package. Unfortunately, this had no effect. Speaking with Dag in IRC a couple nights back, he believes my only recourse may be to "pin" my apt sources and attempt to upgrade all of my WBEL-based packages to their CentOS counterparts. I would really like to avoid this; if necessary, I think I'd prefer to try and upgrade from the 3.3 ISO. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on this? Thanks, -...

...gram..the one we paid hundreds of dollars for, which they happily activated almost 2 years ago, and which my daughter has been using for her high school foreign language credits. They will not allow me to pay some sort of fee to "legitimize" my purchase and get an activation code. My only recourse is to purchase a new program for over $500. Nice.

...ce type declaration into koan, but don't like that in the slightest, and would typically expect to be able to just set "default=virtio" in a libvirt config file somewhere. I fear I'm actually not missing anything and it's just hard coded for the most compatible device with no recourse to override it. Thanks Chris

Assertion failure in journal_bmap() at journal.c:636: "ret != 0"
A scsi error (caused possibly by a loose cable) has left the processes accessing my ext3 file system hung in an unkillable state after it triggered an assert in ext3's journaling layer. I assume my only recourse at this point is to reboot. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Log messages appended. render :partial + redirect_to :controller
...t (form_remote_tag) to trigger action1 which does the sort and refreshes div1. It would be nice to be able to either update both div1 and div2 from one of the actions, or allow action2 to update div2 via render :partial and then redirect_to action1, but that is not allowed, so what is the best recourse to having to use a submit? read.table, input methods
...haracter as the record separator, but I can't seem to do this. First of all, how can I get a tab character in R? Second, is it possible to force read.table not to skip multiple separators? I could preprocess the text, say in perl, to insert missing value strings where needed; is this my only recourse? Thanks for your help-- both now and for all my previous questions! PSTN line quality
...activated the MilliWatt Generator on the exchange for me. I measured my lines and also the lines at another location I am having the same problem. The line levels were -20dbm at my office and -21.4dbm at the other location. My question is, how does this compare, what is the norm, and what is the recourse? Do I have the root of the problem or should the system be able to handle this loss of level? -- Chris Mason

email stuck in outbox
Can anyone here help me out with a client side Outlook issue? I know outlook is a horrible imap client :( We intermittently have a problem where mail gets "stuck" in Outlook users' outboxes. Might have anything to do with dovecot? Is there anyway I can troubleshoot this server side? Are there any settings I can tweak? We have a new and an old dovecot server (see below) and both
