Upgrading from 1.2.x -> 2.2.x in one step possible
Hi,
after some off-ML discussions to and some reconsiderations, we might do
the "big jump" from our current 1.2.17 to the atrpms 2.2.
From googling and reading the dovecot upgrade wiki I don't see any (big)
pitfalls.
Basically we use the default config options, mbox, pop3s/imaps on RH EL 5.
So "just" run the upgrade-config script, fi...

New URL redirect checks
I don't have an opinion on the URL shorteners, but how about the
original question? Redirection can be extremely useful in general.
Shortening URLs is only one of its possible applications. FWIW, CRAN
uses (303) redirect itself, e.g.,
https://cran.r-project.org/package=MASS is redirected to
https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/MASS/index.html Should these
"canonical" CRAN links be

[Question] power management related with cgroup based resource management
Hi, all
These days, I am interested in green IT area for low power OS
So, I have a question about it.
Is there any good idea or comments about power management related with
cgroup based resource management?
I have no idea about that, but it seems to be possible to find a good concept.
And I hope so
Is it some strange question? ^^

New URL redirect checks
Me too. I have changed some valid URLs in \url{} to \verb{} just to
avoid these check NOTEs. I do appreciate the check for the validity of
URLs in packages, especially those dead links (404), but discouraging
URLs with status code other than 200 (such as 301) feels like
overdoing the job. After I "hide" links from R CMD check with \verb{}
, it will be hard to know if these links are

First Gigabyte bios with virtualization support available
Hi folks,
after all this struggle with Gigabyte''s Tech-Support and self-modified
bioses it seems Gigabyte reconsidered making Virtualization-Support
available for the masses.
The F6-bios for the GA-M61P-S3 rev 1.0 Motherboard is hopefully the
beginning (not a mistake) and others will follow.
Thanks to all the people writing to the Gigabyte-Tech-Support making

Locking issues when adding to the Index
Hi,
I keep getting locking errors when updating my index which puzzles me
since only one process is supposed to be accessing the index at a
time (at least in development mode).
I''m using Ferret with Rails (NOT acts_as_ferret, though) and employed
an observer to add a new document to the index when a new
ActiveRecord is created. I''m not sure if this has any impact on the

Blue Book
I came across a very cheap of the infamous blue book - The New S Language
(1988). Is this book still relevant to modern S or R or am I wasting my
time?

New URL redirect checks
Isn't the whole concept of DOI basically link-shortening/redirecting?
For example, this link
https://doi.org/10.2134/agronj2016.07.0395
redirects to
https://acsess.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.2134/agronj2016.07.0395
As a side note, I got so fed up with CRAN check complaints about (perfectly
valid) re-directs that I refuse to use the \url{} tag anymore.

How to prevent batch rsync to write rsync_argvs files in the home directory
Hi,
Whenever i am using the command
rsync --write-batch -av --stats `cat $1` -e ssh user@remote machine:/destination/
This is writing rsync_argvs files in the home directory as well as to the destination directory.
Can anyone give me any idea as how to prevent the writing of rsync_argvs files in the home directory which is of no use.

Surabhi.

I agree, and we do have \href{}{} in Rd files and similar in

[LLVMdev] How to translate library functions into LLVM IR bitcode?
Hi Johannes,
Actually, I'm working in the same scenario, i.e. configure + make of a
benchmark/program/library like you said. I've got your point of using this
script as a replacement to generate .bc files instead of a executable.
That's truly helpful and has already answered my original question.
Now I'm actually moving a step further. Take the same example in your
reply, say, if
