Workaround for bind9 reload bug : samba_dlz Ignoring duplicate zone
Hi samba team ! I'm face with a new problem on a new Samba PDC install (Debian 9). I don't know why, but systemd run multiples "rndc reconfig" commands during the init script. So the bind9 log file show : -> A successful start -> A failed reconfig (samba_dlz Ignoring duplicate zone) at each boot/reboot. So I need to restart bind9 each time manually. I created a wrapper script and moved rndc to rndc.ORIG to intercept the reloa...

nsd-4.0.0b5(and rc2) and changing zone from master to slave ?
Hi, I'm doing some quick tests with nsd-4.0.0b5 and (rc2). And found something strange when changing (nsd-control reconfig) one zone from: zone: name: 10.in-addr.arpa zonefile: /zones/empty.zone to zone: name: 10.in-addr.arpa request-xfr: 192.168.122.12 NOKEY allow-notify: 192.168.122.12 NOKEY zonefile: /zones/slave/10.rev and doing nsd-control reconfig. After reconfig nsd-control zonestatus...

script network reconfig after Centos 5->6 upgrade?
I need to upgrade a bunch of centos 5 servers to 6.x in the near future, mostly keeping the same connectivity and functionality. Are there any tools that will examine a running 5.x box and produce the appropriate /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules (etc). to make the same box come up with the same interface names with the same IPs it had before? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at

Visual Fox Pro 6 APP and Wine & Reggresion
...(since we got rid of those hard-to-manage-and-prone-to-error nt boxes) since we mostly use this app for everything, we tried to run it in Linux using wine. i downloaded the latest wine release, the codeweavers release and a CVS one, none of them seem to work and all displayed this error http://www.reconfig.net/~atax/error2.txt So i went to the mailing list archives and found that there had been some regressions in the wine code, and it advised to run wine-20010510, after compiling and installing this release, it did exit (wine) with the same error, not giving up, i played with the --winver option, a...

/etc/X11/xorg.conf question
If I use "system-config-display" or "system-config-display --reconfig" although I get a message that I need to log out of GNOME, to have the new file written, for new Display Resolution, logging out or restarting the box does not result in the new settings for the Display taking hold. Sometimes, the number of colors is updated, but *never* the Resolution. Below...

system-display-config doesn't run right
This might be a gnome problem, but.... I've noticed that, on occasion (frequently), when I try to look at or modify my display configuration, the Applications->System Settings->Display doesn't come up. It asks for the root password, which I give it, and then nothing. I ran system-config-display form the command line, but it dies thus: [root at mhullrichter mhr]#

[LLVMdev] All bots are down
Hi Galina, It seems that all the bots (buildbots and green dragon) are not processing new SVN revisions since the llvm.org IP address update. It seems we have gotten no new revs since Noon today? Perhaps the SVN mirror is not picking up new commits?

Radeon 9000 breaks with CentOS 4.4
...pix 4.0.2. Graphical installation succeeds, but upon reboot, and all subsequent rebbots, graphical mode does not work, the screen becomes black. In addition to the 2.6.9-42 kernel, we have also tried the 2.6.9-42.0.2 kernel. Same problem exists on both kernel. Running system-config-display --reconfig exits with the error "fatal IO error 104" Connection reset by peer. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Barry

xorg reconfigure display how
Hi, I am trying to configure my X. I have a completely differnet monitor. The old command was XFree86 -configure. I tried Xorg -configure and it is not found. I need to be able to see the selections on the screen. I tried system-config-display --reconfig and that works but I it selects the VESA generic. I need the list of display choices like it used to present. Where is that under centos??? THanks so much.. Jerry

...<xorg.conf was made, no changes were made. I guess next time I will <log in as root instead of chancing su... In my brief fling with FC6, I had problems with that file not getting updated. Someone here posted about this problem and someone else here suggested using system-config-display --reconfig as I recall, to generate a new file. Not a good idea to log in as root! Best to use su - from a terminal window and exit from root ASAP.

HA Dovecot Config?
...ng Dovecot 1.1.8 on a HP server using CentOS 5.2 as my IMAP server, receiving mail from postfix, and also using squirrelmail as the frontend. As I look at upgrading the mail server, I'd like to change to a higher availability configuration (where the server can fail and I don't have to reconfig my imap users). For the SMTP that's easy, because I can use multiple MX records, and I can redirect a port forward from one server to another. But IMAP doesn't have the same functionality, because it's the storage that matters. What's the "best" way to do that? Cluste...

virtualization!?!?!
I am virtualizating Samba 4.1.14 with vmware free. Any of you already virtualized and had used vmconverter server to copy a PDC already working with a domain ? Can I copy the hole machine with VMCONVERTER without any problem. I had done already this procedure with a laptop to another place and worked very well. This is pratical and easy, but is this procedure recommended? I would like any advise
