Samba conect/disconect/reconect when browsing or when freeze open/save dialogs
...new one.
I migrate from Ubuntu Server 8.04 to 8.10 server
It's the same old smb.conf of old machine, but one new problem.
When logon is OK, but wait 5 minutes or less and when connect remote
drive for second time by explorer, windows says that "not respoding",
but wait 30 seconds and reconect drive again, no error, but some users
dont wait, kill explorer/word/excell process thinking.
I inspect samba logs, looking for "timout", but it's normal, none message error.
My samba version is Version 3.2.3, my distro is Ubuntu Server 8.10
[amd64] updated.
My smb.conf (PCD) is :

How to stop access to a share in the samba server?
Hi
I am mouving from PC-NFS to SAMBA and thare are some thinks that I would
like to see in SAMBA.
In NFS, when I do not want a share to be accessible, I just use the
command: unshare /shared/directory
This make the /shared/directory imediataly not accessible. Even by some one
already using it!
I?m using SAMBA 1.9.18p10 in a SUN Solaris 2.5 and i try to change
smb.comf to disable one share,

I am studying out of the book Asterisk: The Future of Telephony on
Chapter 4, and right now for practicing using the built in Debian
version of Asterisk for Ubuntu. I am however having some problem where
I cannot do "asterisk -r" and hook up to the asterisk CLI. I have

elegant way of re-encoding?
Hi,
Now that I've been able to look at streamtranscoder 3.0, I see there's
absolutely no documentation whatsoever. I've not compiled it, but I note
that previously when you ran it first time, it would create a sample config
file for you to edit. Maybe it still does this.
Oddsock's flash demo may shed more light on this, but I can't use it so
don't know.

Stream fallbacks/spillovers/splashing
...e for
which the stream was a fallback.
Example: You have two streams, /stream1.ogg and /stream2.ogg, and a
fallback called /fallback.ogg. If you have listeners to both /stream1.ogg
and /stream2.ogg and both streams stop, all listeners will fall back
to/fallback.ogg. Then, if say /stream1.ogg reconects, all listeners will
be moved to /stream1.ogg, regardless of whether they originally tuned in to
/stream1.ogg or /stream2.ogg. More confusing, if a person who originally
tuned into /stream2.ogg, who is now on /stream1.ogg, stops their player and
starts it again, they'll drop back through t...

Q about files
...logout/login)
do not see new files, but see old deleted files.
She setup in smb.comf is something like this
[public]
Comment = public files
path = /services/smb/public
browsable = yes
public = yes
What is hepening.
(The option in NN is not Quick log on, and disk map is not set to reconect
on login, we use script for that)
This is not the case with other shares.

Win2k(IIS5) + Samba weirdness
Hi all;
I don't know if this is a specificly a Samba problem, so appologies if
this is a little OT. Anyhow, I have a Windows 2000 Server (SP2) running
IIS5 hosting a number of web sites. The content itself is housed on a
RH 7.1 Linux box running Samba 2.2.2, which Windows mounts.
Now, occasionly when going anywhere beneath the root of a web site
IIS reports a 404 error (NTFileMon

Stream fallbacks/spillovers/splashing
Okay, a quick question,
I've got IceCast 2.3.1 setup on a demo server, And I've got some wierd
behavior going on...
Here's the behavior:
I have my constant feed always running on mountpoint: /switch
I have my main stream broadcasting: /stream
someone connects to an alternate named stream: /krushradio
They pull all the listeners from /switch and /stream to their stream.
