Newly applied GPO not immediately active
Hi folks,
I have been playing around with implementing and applying GPOs on a
Samba AD DC, using the RSAT tools. It seems that any changes take their
time (at least 5 minutes, maybe more), and are not immediately active. I
experienced problems when logging in on the affected computers (Windows
10), that the GPOs seemed to be incompletely applied. After a while, it
worked though. It's not

How to call directly "dotTcl" C-function of the tcltk-package from the C-code of an external package?
...l *tmp = NULL;
tmp = (R_RegisteredNativeSymbol *) R_ExternalPtrAddr(symbol);
if (tmp==NULL) return R_NilValue;
direct_dotTcl = (SEXP(*)(SEXP)) tmp->symbol.external->fun;
return R_NilValue;
}
Although that works for me, I'm aware that this kind of approach is certainly not
recommmended for publicly available external packages. However, I couldn't find any
other more legitimate way to access dotTcl function directly from my C-code in R 4.4.0.
I have two questions:
Would it be possible to get dotTcl C-function (in tcltk.c) of the tcltk-package
registered as C-callable fro...

...nterval is 30 min, so what you see is normal to me.
Also, for some policies, you need to reboot the computer twice.
First time is to add the policy, second to apply the policy, this is
depending on the use policy, by design of MS.
For testing you should increase the update frequenty, but i dont recommmend that.
Use the defaults as as possible, what works fine, at least for me.

Recommendation for a Good Vulnerability Scanning Service?
Hi,
Can someone recommend a good vulnerability scanning service? I just
need the minimum for PCI compliance (it's a sort of credit card
processing certification).
I got a free scan from https://www.hackerguardian.com/ and their scan
reported a number of "Fail" results. I haven't checked them all yet
but most seem to be things for which fixes were backported looong ago

files missing
I have a 1 TB ext3 filesystem mounted via iscsi on a redhat 9 system w/
kernel version - 2.4.20-30.9. I'm not sure when it happened, but today
there appears to be about 7,000 files (600GB) missing. The output from
df implies that the files are still there. It shows 861 GB utilized.
But du shows only 300 GB of data. I'm sure that there are no processes
holding onto deleted files because

Clarity on using SAMBA and Mapping to a Sun Server
...PCs and the unix server then
take a look at the "username map" option. See the smb.conf man page for
details.
OTHER CHARACTER SETS
====================
If you have problems using filenames with accented characters in them (like
the German,
French or Scandinavian character sets) then I recommmend you look at the
"valid chars"
option in smb.conf and also take a look at the validchars package in the
examples directory.

Zil on multiple usb keys
This might be a stupid question, but here goes... Would adding, say, 4 4 or 8gb usb keys as a zil make enough of a difference for writes on an iscsi shared vol?
I am finding reads are not too bad (40is mb/s over gige on 2 500gb drives stripped) but writes top out at about 10 and drop a lot lower... If I where to add a couple usb keys for zil, would it make a difference?
Thanks.

serious networking (em) performance (ggate and NFS) problem
Dear best guys,
I really love 5.3 in many ways but here're some unbelievable transfer rates,
after I went out and bought a pair of Intel GigaBit Ethernet Cards to solve
my performance problem (*laugh*):
(In short, see *** below)
Tests were done with two Intel GigaBit Ethernet cards (82547EI, 32bit PCI
Desktop adapter MT) connected directly without a switch/hub and "device
