Where are the best AJAX examples?
Googling for this has not solved my problems. Is there a particular site that is recommened for its examples and tutorials on Rails'' AJAX capabilities? I know exactly what I want to do, just not how to do it, and am looking for some code to pore over. 1) I have a dropdown that represents the name of an image in a library. When the dropdown value is changed, I would like t...

[PATCH] xl: extend autoballoon xl.conf option with an "auto" option
From: David Vrabel <david.vrabel@citrix.com> autoballoon=1 is not recommened if dom0_mem was used to reduce the amount of dom0 memory. Instead of requiring users to change xl.conf if they do this, extend the autoballoon option with a new choice: "auto". With autoballoon="auto", autoballooning will be disabled if dom0_mem was used on the Xen command l...

Use of ogg vorbis for real time audio streaming?
...e that with attention to detail at every level of the datapath it could be done. So. My question is: is ogg vorbis (as a whole, bitstream and codec) appropriate for such an application? I have studied the documentation, and it seems to me that there are several barriers (for example, ogg pages are recommened to be 4-8kB, this is 0.5 - 1 sec worth of audio for a 64kbps stream). Could I work around these limitations by aggressively setting certain parameters in the code, or is this a no-brainer from the outset? Any suggestions would be gratefully received! Best regards, Tom

Why deliver+usercheck? deliver+MTA?
Hi, I successfully configured dovecot using virtual users (and LDAP/AD). deliver is the LDA and verifies if the user exists (as recommended in the WIKI). However, the howtos in the Wiki say *nothing* about the case that the recipients should be verified *before* receiving the messages (prevent backscatter, ...). All configurations in the dovecot-Wiki (postfix and exim) just accept the mails and pass them to deliver. Also, all h...

ices2/icecast2 on a pen 100
...ww.6809.org.uk/audio/ I had put the sample rate down to 24000, as the Pen 100 seem not to be able to handle anything about that. According ps aux, ices is taking 91 percent cpu. using Rmath standalone
Hi, I am a c/c++ programmer attempting to utilise the Rmath library (looks VERY useful). I have downloaded the Rsource and compiled the library as recommened (compiled on windows 98 using the cygwin environment). But whenever i try to use functions from the library i get similar error messages - eg. using the function dnorm(double, double...... etc ) i get the message : "undefined reference to dnorm4". dnorm4 is called by dnorm to impl...

Digium TDM410P Cards
As recommened I got the new firmware for my echo cancellers and it solved hte problem with the agressive echo cancelling causing half duplex audio. I have to say, so far these cards are far superior to the previous models. The sound quality is hugely improved (enough to really notice which is alot) and the...

Really changing the hostname

I really don't want to do a rebuild just yet, but I have to feel confident that hostname is really changed (reboot is not too much of an issue). What is the recommened practice? Other than get it right the first time.

scp doesn't work with large (>2GB) files
Hi, A bug I've had reported is that scp doesn't work with large files (Debian bug number 106809). The problem seems to be scp.c:504: if ((fd = open(name, O_RDONLY, 0)) < 0) Is there some reason why making that if ((fd = open(name, O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE, 0)) < 0) would break things? It seems a simple fix to me... Thanks, Matthew -- "At least you know where you are

Numbering of releases

[scriptaculous] Intermitently Disabling Clicks
I have button that slides down a menu using Effect.BlindDown, but the function that slides it down also makes it so that the opening link now slides the menu back in. If the user double clicks the link (thuse opening & closing immediatley) the slide animation breaks, then will not extend correctly (but no JS errors). How would you go about stopping this happening? Also, is it just me or is

help with package "simsalabim"
...tralized amplitude of a signal, sampled at 30Hz, whose length N = 6922 My goal is to remove the trend. I am using package "simsalabim". I ran command decompSSA with L = length(Amps)/5 The reason is that I have SSA/MTM toolkit running in Mac/OS. SSA/MTM documentation, relative to SSA, recommends that N/10 <= L <= N/5. Documentation of simsalabim package recommens that L=N/2 I ran the command getSignal and felt uncomfortable at picking values for parameters C0 and r0. I would appreciate some suggestion/guidelines because these values seem to influence the trend extraction. I chose...

session border controller
Hi ? I am playing around the idea of setting up an asterisk box on the public domain. This box will then be connected to various other sip providers for LCR for low cost calls. It was recommened that I use a SBC.? I never used SBC. From what I understand it can help with different aspect when it comes to SIP communication such as security and billing. ? Is SBC really necessary? If so what would be the ideal configuration? ? thanks ? Zakir -------------- next part -------------- An HTML...

permissions of netlogon/Default User/

What are the recommened permissions for Default User/ and its contents (eg. NTUSER.dat) on the samba machine? I thought maybe this is the problem and have tried several things but still same errors. Any suggestions? I'll also attach my smb.conf ... Thanks! Milan

How transferable is a Ruby on Rails CMS?
Hi, I am looking into a new website, and a couple of potential designers have recommened using a CMS system built on Ruby on Rails ... one bespoke and one using a customised version of Refinery. Both have said that we will own all the coding, and so will in theory have the flexibility to host the sites anywhere. We are looking at hosting the site with a separate company, and I just...

CRAN rejects package because of write statement in Fortran
...sions' warns you against including Fortran I/O, this will not be allowed." The issue is that this Write statement does not involve I/O it is inernally writing an integer to a character which is then placed in an appropriate message (character string) passed to the error handling function recommened in writing R extensions rexit(message). I'm working with a very large legacy program which was developed over 16 years and I am reluctant to rewrite the entire error handling sections in R. I was wondering if anyone has gotten CRAN to accept a package with a Fortran write statement converti...
