Annoying semi-bug in flac
Dear all, I use flac a lot and find it really useful. However, there is one slight issue that keeps bugging me. When encoding/checking files with long filenames, you get output like this (usually much longer): 30 Gardiner, John Eliot Monteverdi Choir, English Baroque Soloists - 30 Recitative Und sie kamen eilend.flac: ok 21 Gardiner, John Eliot Monteverdi Choir, English Baroque Soloists - 21

mp3-wav-cd-audio "acoustically equivalent" to wav-cd-audio ?
...re the masters on the disk, but moved them offline due to space concerns. If a user downloads the MP3 and creates a WAV from it, that is going to be precisely equivalent on the audio CD in quality. I have tested it myself in MATLAB using spectral and phase analysis (I am a physics guy, after all). recite WAV -> MP3 -> WAV -> CD Audio is *acoustically equivalent* to recite WAV -> CD audio. to confirm, Perform this experiment at home (I have done so) 1. recite to WAV. save as A.wav 2. encode A.mp3 from A.wav 3. create B.wav from A.mp3. 4. ask someone to burn A.wav and B.wav to an audio...

layouts
I created a controller called reports, for which I didn''t have any model or tables. I wanted to use a menu/layout structure similar to all my other models/controllers and added a layout named reports which then gives me the menu/layout structure but is also now part of all my reports. That isn''t gonna work so I renamed reports.rhtml to reports_forms.rhtml (still inside my

Recording piano and voice
The last time I wanted to record a voice announcement on my computer was a few years back, and as I recall I hooked up my Microsoft Lifechat headset and used Audacity to do the recording. Now I want to record a "recitation", which consists of me playing my piano and talking over it. I have a Casio CDP-230 digital piano but I've never tried hooking it up to my computer and making a

T100P specs
Does anyone have the physical spec sheet for the T100P from Digium? The one on the website doesn't have what I need. Things like 3.3 or 5v operation, uses n IRQ channels, requires 32-bit PCI, must be installed while standing on one foot and reciting the GPL, etc. Also, if anyone is selling a used T100P or TE4xxP I'd like to talk... 911 Q
OK, got a question on 911. Looking into setting up a couple asterisk servers at a country club, with VOIP phones in each of 100 short-term residential rental units. Approx 100 extensions, approx 24 outside lines. Since everything is geographically at one location, reaching 911 correctly shouldn't present a problem. However, the club wishes to ensure that 911 authorities are able to identify

XML statistics?
...t Mike had references "stats.xml", which I read, simply, as "stats.xsl". I was only going to .xsl, before. Both "/stats" and "/stats.xml" produce the appropriate XML file I have been seeking. I am now successfully displaying Title/Artist (in this case, reciter, not really artist) on the front page of my site. This XML stuff is really neat. :) And, in reference to Chup's comments, I didn't mean to be disrespectful in any way, i.e., "I PAID NOTHING FOR THIS SOFTWARE, SO WHY DOESN'T IT WORK LIKE THE $4,000 REALAUDIO SERVER!" New wiki article to help testing of bug-fixes and improvements
Hello all, I've long felt that I am reciting tips about building from git source a bit too often in the issue discussions over the past couple of years, and automated some of that area during the time to make it simple to type, so finally posted a Wiki article that I hope to refer to in such situations from now on. Perhaps it would be useful not only to "newcomers":

[Bug 44] ip_conntrak_ftp / ip_nat_ftp enhancements
...- This 'bug' has been discussed at least two or maybe even three years ago on the netfilter mailinglist(s). It is not possible to change the current behaviour (expect data connection to come from same IP as control connection) without introducing major security risks. I'm not going to recite the whole explanation of how + why here. Please try to read find the answers in the list archives or if you still have questions, ask them at netfilter-devel@lists.netfilter.org. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone wh...

ogg.m4 in vorbis/m4 ?
Hi, I've (just now) been playing with a buildbot, building ogg, vorbis, speex, and theora, using a non-standard prefix on a pretty bare debian image. I noticed that vorbis was failing during configure while theora wasn't. I tracked it down to the location of ogg.m4. There is a copy of ogg.m4 in theora/m4, but there is not one in vorbis/m4. This means that if you have libogg installed

In the short time I worked on the task I wasn't able to get testparm to tell me all the share property defaults, but there's probably a way either with a workaround like mine or by copying testparm to a new file and making that file recite everything. Once you also have defaults and specified for shares, it wouldn't be difficult at all to make something like SWAT out of it. IIRC SWAT annoyingly deleted comments: I hope anyone making a similar program leaves comments intact. SteveT Steve Litt Author: The Key to Everyday Excelle...

e2fsprogs Help.
Hello, Hope you will forgive me for asking some very simple question about e2fsprogs. I am very new to the kernel as well as file system programming. My task is to collect superblock, inode, bitmap ( or free list) information from ext2/ext3 filesysteam. After searching the google, I came to know about e2fsprogs, which I was able to install and use at least "dumpe2fs" utility. This

PGP key changing
Hi, I'm rotating my PGP keys, so this is a forewarning that the key used to sign the next release of portable OpenSSH will be different to the one I've used in the past. Hopefully the gnupg incantations that I recited have resulted in a new key that is correctly cross-signed by my old one so there should be a trust path across the rollover. The new key is available from the key servers and below. It will also show up on the https-hosted list archive too: http://lists.mindrot.org/pipermail/openssh-unix-dev/201...
