predict.Arima question
...ng predict.Arima
I found arima model for a data set: x={x1,x2,x3,...,x(t)}
arima_model = arima(x,order=c(1,0,1))
I am forecasting the next N lags using predict:
arima_pred = predict(arima_model,n.ahead = N, se.fit=T)
If I have one more point in my series, let's say x(t+1). I do not want to
recalibrate themodel, I just want to forecast the next N-1 lags using the
same model for x={x1,x2,...x(t)} but without recalibrate arima.
How to do it using arima + predict.Arima ?
My problem is that I am trying to fit arima models by brute force ( trying
lots of combinations for p and q and chosing the bes...

Thank you Frank and all for your advices.
Here I attach the raw data from the Pawinski's paper. I have obtained

automated polynomial regression
Dear all -
We perform some measurements with a machine that needs to be
recalibrated. The best calibration we get with polynomial regression.
The data might look like follows:

> m_y <- c((1:21)*1.1, 21.1, 22.2, 23.3 ,c(25:50)*.9)/0.3-5.2

Some issues with UPS Forza SL-1001

iMAC does not shutdown
Hi everybody!
It has been a journey but I almost manage to make my UPS properly
communicate.
This is the config:
UPS Mecer/Mustek 2000 VA connected via USB with blazer_usb driver.
MASTER Raspberry PI-1
SLAVE Raspberry PI-2
SLAVE iMac OSX 10.10.3
I can get access to the UPS from any of the three devices successfully.
Problems:
1. When I launch /usr/local/ups/sbin/upsmon -c fed for testing I see

The UPS brought the batteries back up to full charge and, so far, has
kept them within a couple of percentage points of full ever since
(charge level is fluctuating between about 98.3% and 100%).
So, it appears NUT doesn't have to recalibrate in any way after swapping
out a battery pack; but the UPS itself DOES need to reset.

Something is writing a log
I can just be sittting, doing nothing, and I hear the sound of my
hardrive head moving. Just every so often. Like some process is
writing a log.
I have looked in /var/log and do see occational updates to acpi and
messages, but that does not account for all the clicks.
Is there somewhere else to look for logs? I would really like to know
what process has something to remember.....

Another option is to run upslog to see the rate of discharge when the UPS is on battery. If the charge is falling faster than you expect, the battery may be dead, or the UPS may need to be recalibrated. This may help with the previous question.

...ly get false results ( as in battery OK when it is not really OK ). The only relevant test is under real load, which is why I suggested using a small motor or a light bulb.
An UPS battery test (especially on a higher-end UPS like many of the MGE models) can do two things: provide a small load, and recalibrate the runtime estimate based on how the UPS responds to that load.
The UPS may not result in a NUT "RB" (replace battery) flag, but it should still have a better estimate of runtime. Marc indicated he saw adequate runtime figures, but if those are based on the original battery, then they a...

APC SMART-UPS 1500 always reporting LB
Using nut v2.2.2, and the APC serial cable.

I wonder if that is a calibration issue? Most UPSes will recalibrate as part of their battery test process, and that should update the runtime estimates and other variables necessary to detect a low battery condition. Since you mentioned that the test commands don't show up in upscmd, is there a button or jumper to trigger calibration?
If either the runtime or...

Is SUNWhd for Thumper only?
I read Ben Rockwood''s blog post about Thumpers and SMART
(http://cuddletech.com/blog/pivot/entry.php?id=993). Will the SUNWhd
package only work on a Thumper? Can I use this on my snv_101 system

unload memdisk+FreeDOS => local boot
Sensei H. Peter Anvin,
I have successfully modified/enhanced memdisk so that one can chainload a
local operating system after running diskless FreeDOS.
I would like your advice regarding the appropriate interface for invoking
this functionality.
In addition, I would like to know what steps to take so that you feel
comfortable considering including this in the standard syslinux
distribution.

Server not shutting down before power loss
Hi I hope someone can please help.
I have an Ubuntu Server running 14.04.3 LTS and using an APC ES550 UPS
connected via USB.
I've installed Nut and can see it does monitor the UPS correctly and give
the correct stats with battery percentage etc.
But on doing a "real" test and unplugging the UPS from the power supply,
after watching the battery drop slowly suddenly the server just

APC UPS: replacement battery always triggers shutdown
Arnaud,
I was finally able to get back to this issue and would recommend adding these items to the FAQ #37 about recalibrating the UPS:
1a. It's important that the UPS be at 100% charge before starting the procedure; starting at lower will not work at all, not just produce inaccurate numbers.
? ? ? [I started the procedure when the UPS was at 91% charge. After that it would never report

Problems with NUT 2.7.2 on CentOS 7 and using the Mini-Box OpenUPS
I?m a new user of NUT and the OpenUPS - in the past I?ve used APC hardware and apcupsd on Centos 6.
I?ve built NUT 2.7.2 from source but used the OpenUPS HID driver v0.4 that?s in github. I?m using firmware version 1.5 on the openups which is the latest published version; I?ve also tried 1.7 which Mini-box sent to me but reverted to the published version. Their support seems a bit slow!
