Are downstream dependencies rebuilt when a package is updated on CRAN?
I was wondering: are the downstream dependencies of a package rebuilt
when a package is updated on CRAN? (I'm referring to the binary
packages, of course.)
The reason I ask is because there are cases where this can cause
problems. Suppose that when pkgB is built, it calls
pkgA::makeClosure(), which returns a closure that refers to a function
in pkgA. Suppose this code is in pkgA 1.0:

re-indexing moved mail
I have a huge block of email that was misdelivered into the wrong
folder. Moving it where it should be is not just all from one folder
to being all of another folder. Basically, the index files need to be
rebuilt. Looking in the wiki I cannot find how to do this. It all
seems to be about installation, and no administrative tools.
Or would it be just as simple as delete certain index files and

Makefile.in diff against CVS to prevent man/config rebuild every make
Bug: all .out files get rebuilt every make. This is silly, and breaks make
install if root cannot write to your build dir.
Fix: add dependancy check sop .out files only get rebuilt if the source
file changes
FixBug: if any source file gets changed, all .out files get rebuilt. This
is because man pages and config files both get .out extensions but get
created differently. It's

Data loss from removing dovecot.index* files?
Hi there,
I've been rewriting the courier-dovecot-migrate script to handle
dovecot->courier conversions in addition to courier->dovecot. One
issue I've found is that when the courier->dovecot conversion is
performed a second time (using --overwrite) and the dovecot-uidlist
file is written again, Dovecot starts generating errors when accessing
the maildir. The simple

R 4.0.0 rebuild status
Over the last several days, I've been working hard to get all of the Fedora
R packages rebuilt against R 4.0 in rawhide (in the F33-R-4 side tag). With
the exception of R-biomaRt, R-BSgenome, R-GenomicAlignments, and
R-rtracklayer, I believe everything is built and updated to the latest
versions. And of those packages, they're all ready to go when Fedora
infrastructure is working reliably

rebuilt XP machine cannot see Samba server
I have been successfully running a Samba server on my home LAN for several
years. It's on an old Redhat 9 P3 box. I recently rebuilt my laptop with XP
(after hard drive failure). I added just one user, the system administrator,
with the same user name and password as before. Now the XP laptop cannot see
the Samba server at all.
samba server is at 192.168.0.3
XP laptop is at 192.168.0.7 (same

upstream packages rebuilt for EL7
Hi,
You can find some upstream packages I've built for EL7.
My testing purposes are only about KVM and Ceph but there is also a Xen
package you feel free to play with.

How to rebuilt the pxe initramfs
Hello Guys,
i read the official red hat documentation of "How built pxe initramfs",
but it does not work"
the inluded version of initramfs is about 42MB, mine 13MB.
This is again one of more failure of redhat documentation.
That's why i ask here.
In my despair tried a very hard version:

Subversion mirrors of Asterisk, Zaptel and libpri rebuilt
Due to an error in the configuration of the mirroring tool we are using
to mirror the repositories from our internal commit server to the public
read-only mirror, the revision numbers were not being properly kept in
sync (so rev 14381 on the internal server was not the same as on the
mirror).
This problem has just been corrected, but it required rebuilding the
repositories on the mirror server

[PATCH] build: Fix haskell dependencies and parallel build
Without this change all the tests in the haskell bindings are rebuilt
every time. The primary motivation for this change is to fix this.
The fix for the above also allows parallel builds to be re-enabled.

Corrupted RPM DB can't be rebuilt.
Alle,
I have a major problem. I'm running CentOS 5.5 on some rather old
hardware (Dual Celeron 500MHz with 768MB of memory). Sometime in the
last week, the DB became corrupted (I noticed when yum update would hang).
I've tried running rpm --rebuild with both the 2.6.18-194.17.4 and
2.6.18-194.26.1 kernels and get a segmentation fault each time.
Consequently, I'm pretty much stuck

libvirtd for el7
Hi,
I see that for EL6 gwd already has pushed a libvirtd package with version 1.2.10[1].
I got request from VDSM development to provide libvirt >= 1.2.9 for EL7 for oVirt 3.6.
gwd, do you just rebuilt http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=594825 ?
I'm looking at http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=628689 may this work for you?

MIT Kerberos and OpenSSH
Howdie,
Is there a way to get the default BSD 5.3 openssh to compile against
the MIT kerberos libraries? I have set NO_KERBEROS=yes in /etc/make.conf so
that the heimdal kerberos is not built, and rebuilt world, then installed
/usr/ports/security/krb5 and rebuilt world again. sshd is however not being
built against MIT at all.

Which .tdb files are safe to remove?
Hello,
which .tdb files in /var/lib/samba are safe to remove (rebuilt automatically)?
Long story:
I have posted a couple of times lately regarding some mysterious freeze
effects we've been having on the clients. We have now tried 2.2.4, 2.2.7a
(this one makes it even worse) and 2.999 (3.0 pre-X) and have the same
trouble on all.
It seems the same configuration does NOT cause this
