Use of CentOS name and logo
Hi. my name is Giacomo Sanchietti and I'm working for a company called Nethesis. We are working on a CentOS derived distribution like SME Server. It's a minimal CentOS with a software layer on top to add a web configuration interface. The CD iso, it's a CentOS minimal CD with some extras packages from centos-base yum group, and a kickstart file to automatize the installation

LDAP and Linux compatibility
While this is a fairly old thread, there may still be people looking for the *correct* answer for this question (at least I were 10 minutes ago...) So, the problem is that some applications (acroread7 in this case) refuse to start when run on a NIS or LDAP (client?), with a message containing: GLib-WARNING **: getpwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user id See more about the problem in previous

Clang project renamed
Hi everyone, There are a number of issues with the current name of the Clang project: * It is prone to incorrect type setting, typically as CLang, CLANG, or most commonly c̦҉̫̘̺̹̖̗͒͆͋̈̃̇߯l߲҉̷̡̰̖͈̤̺͒҆̾̚͡͝a̺̹͍̔߭͠ͅn͋́͡g̱߫̉ * The C++ compiler ends in the string "g++", which causes problems for compiler wrapper scripts * The name has been used by a kickstarter project

JavaScript error after including Prototype library
...erializers[method] is not a function http://qaslweb1.crossmediaservices.com/shoplocal/scripts/prototype.js Line 2754 You should be able to see this error, using either Firefox or IE, when browsing to: http://qaslweb1.crossmediaservices.com/ Any ideas? Since this is a version of our original site rebranded for a client, I don''t have 100% control over their JavaScript includes. I could however reorder them, if anyone thought that could help. IBM ServeRAID M5014 and CentOS 5.5
Hi all, we are about to buy some IBM x3550 M2 servers with ServeRAID M5014 SAS onboard controller. Can anyone confirm that these controllers will work with CentOS 5.5 (seems to be some rebranded LSI controller). I cannot find any hint in the 2.6.18-194.3.1.el5 sources... Geek Squad UPS Systems
We are interested in using Nut on our Federa 6.0 servers. However, our UPS systems are sold under the name "Geek Squad" (sold through the Best Buy chain of department stores). I'm pretty certain Geek Squad does not manufacture these units and they just rebrand them. Does anyone know who makes these units or what they are compatible with in terms of driver level protocol? The ones we

Installation Guide for CentOS Linux 7
Some time ago I started working, with Jim Perrin, on manually converting the single page HTML Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Installation Guide to be rebranded and reworked for CentOS Linux 7. https://github.com/CentOS/docs/tree/master/legacy_docs I wanted to alert folks that this is being worked on, that we want to get it completed ASAP to help support people migrating to CentOS Linux 7, and there are some areas I could use some help with. One of my k...

Load balancing...
...out how best to load balance a website that is getting considerable traffic? In the past I only have experience with BigIP where you have a load balancing device that keeps track and send traffic to the best server possible at the time. This was a proprietary system that I think was something Dell rebranded. Right now, the whole site is is 400gb of video, HTML5, Apache, PHP, MySQL, runs on a single box with 16gb of RAM and mirrored /var/www/html (2x1tb raid level drives). I have a Comcast 50/10 connection, 5 statics and I am seeing about 125 unique visitors a day. The site runs fine, but in anticipat...

PBX selection
Hi all, I'm new to VoIP, now we have a project that needs a PBX with client APPs. In our team we have argument for choosing PBX. By so far, we have following candidates: A: Open source 1) Asterisk PBX (http://www.asterisk.org) (with longest history that almost every one knows it, now the last version using the PJSIP stack) 2) FreeSwitch (http://www.freeswitch.org) (A lot people

Changing the centos name on boot
I have changed most of the things, the grub, issues. Since I run a minimal, I dont really have a gnome login screen, all text based (no GUI). The only place I am not able to trace is the booting time screen. Changing the centos name on boot
I am kinda getting a tweaked distrubution with CentOS, So this is kinda rebranding. I am not trying to change the hostname, trying to change the System OS name in the on boot screen. I have changed the grub configuration file and it reflects in the Boot OS selection screen, login screen. But only in the on boot screen does it not reflect. My search led me to something called plymouth, and the

NUTDRV_ATCL_USB driver on Windows
Hello again! I'm the guy from the blazer_usb shutdown problem the other day. Now I moved on installing the system in another work PC with another kind of rebranded UPS. This ups is a double battery 1000VA "UPS" brand. Device identifies itself as "ATCL FOR USB" on device description. Blazer_usb seems to identify it as compatible but fails at sending commands. Further reading took me to the NUTDRV_ATCL_USB driver that seems to be specifical...

Just to throw it out there, there's also XCP-NG which is a rebranded (w/o Citrix) version of XenServer without all of the proprietary bits. The same people also produce XenOrchestra, which is a web-based management interface for XenServer, so no need for Windows-based tools. While they are capable of in-place-upgrades, XCP-NG tracks XenServer, which is based upon...

Tesco Internet Phone
I've gotten hold of a "Tesco Internet Phone" which is a dect phone with the base connecting to the pc via usb. Has anyone been able to get this working with any softphone like xlite ? It seems as if the tesco internet phone uses IAX - the software that comes with it is a rebranded firefly (or so it seems) I already have a SPA2000 and SPA3000 hooked up, but I was just curious to see if I could get this to work. Julian.
