We have had a rebalance operation going on for a few days. After a couple days the rebalance status said "failed". We stopped the rebalance operation by doing gluster volume rebalance gv0 stop. Rebalance log indicated gluster did try to stop the rebalance. However, when we try now to stop the volume or try to restart rebalance it says there's a rebalance operation going on and volume

Hi, after 2 years running GlusterFS without bigger problems we're facing some strange errors lately. After updating to 3.12.7 some user reported at least 4 broken directories with some invisible files. The files are at the bricks and don't start with a dot, but aren't visible in "ls". Clients still can interact with them by using the explicit path. More information:

Hi Nithya, the files were sent to priv to avoid spamming the list with large attachments. Could someone explain what is index in Gluster? Unfortunately index is popular word, so googling is not very helpful. Hi, This value is an ongoing rough estimate based on the amount of data rebalance has migrated since it started. The values will cange as the rebalance progresses. A few questions: 1. Hi, I have a rebalance that has failed on one peer twice now. Rebalance logs below (directories anonomised and some irrelevant log lines cut). It looks like it loses connection to the brick, but immediately stops the rebalance on that peer instead of waiting for reconnection - which happens a second or so later. Is this normal behaviour? So far it has been the same server and the same (remote)

We are about to abandon GlusterFS as a solution for our object storage needs. I'm hoping to get some feedback to tell me whether we have missed something and are making the wrong decision. We're already a year into this project after evaluating a number of solutions. I'd like not to abandon GlusterFS if we just misunderstand how it works. Our use case is fairly straight forward.
