Dynamic Failover
...ith routing config with linux. Like scripts written to deal with knowing the T-1 is down. I looked into a cisco router that does this. around $3000 This network has used shorewall as the gateway for 4 years now. Currently Fedora as op. system. It appears to me that I would have to do a lot of reasearch to get this to work with Fedora? Although Tom states in Faq 32 that the shorewall config is easy. The routing is key on a configuration like this. Since I have been away from the list for so long, Is a failover as opposed to load balancing Isp''s. Harder to do? Or I be advised to go the...

OT: 1gigabt nics
Begging indulgence of the list - asking here because due to the higher likelyhood of getting an answer... I have an application that often loses connection from one machine to another when one (or more) of the machines has particular brands of 1gig nics, but which runs rock solid when on 10meg nics and some 1 gig nics. The application senses (falsely) that the connection has been shut

T100P & Integrated (D&V) T1 -> Public IP Range
...5.248. With these settings I was supposedly able to use public "real" ip addresss on my own servers so that I could host miscellaneous things on it (mail, http, dns, etc). What I would like to do is map all or at least one of those ip addresses to an internal server. After doing a lot of reasearch and asking many questions I found out that to do what I need means that in theory no server anywhere will be assigned the ipaddress of 67.153.163.210 but only a simple routing rule will do the trick which is what I was trying to do with the following iptables rules. iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -...

Access 97 on Wine 20041019
...avigate to Access's folder and type "wine MSACCESS.EXE", the splash screen comes up just fine, then a second later, I get an error dialogue box: Microsoft Access couldn't find the file "C:\windows\system\system.mdw". This file is required for startup. Doing a bit of reasearch, I learnt that this file has something to do with Access's workgroup (tee hee) functions. I tried touching the file and setting it to 777, also tried copying system.mdw from a "real" Windows machine, but both of these solutions ends up with an out of memory dialogue on launch. It&...

How to add System V Filesystem to Centos?
Hi, I am working on a project where I have to move some parts files from an old Unix server. I have tared the files to floppy disc, but I can't mount them. After doing some reasearch I have found that the SCO Unix ver 3.2 uses a System V filesystem I think. From the article that I have read I need to add this filesystem to my kernel to be able to mount and read the floppy discs. Can anyone help me with this I have never recomipled my kernel before. Then I should be able to...

ext4?
Listee's... I have a 5.5 box and I have formatted a partition as ext4 however I can't mount it, the mount command is telling me its an unknown file system type. fsck tells me the partition is a clean ext4 partition but I can't mount it. Some reasearch has lead me to believe the problem is that ext4 isn't enabled in the kernel by default in 5.5 (this was originally a 5.2 box that has been upgraded over time, its now on 2.6.18). I'm struggling to find some idiots steps to either get the kernel rebuilt or use the CentOSPlus repo's to g...

Migrating existing debian system to KVM/libvirt
I have a dying machine running debian etch that acts as a web/mail server that I would like to virtualize using debian/kvm/libvirt. Is it as simple as removing the hard-disk (multiple ext2/ext3 partitions) from the dying machine into my newer server and then writing a custom xml config file? Is there a tutorial on doing this somewhere? Thanks. Randy -------------- next part -------------- An HTML

Howto set the option script=no for a tap device in the xml file
Hello, I am trying to run a virtual machine with qemu-kvm and libvirt as a user. In order to start the virtual machine I setup a tap device manually, add it to the bridge and activate it via ifconfig. But I cannot tell libvirt to not try to add the definded tap device to the bridge by itself. It always fails telling me it cannot add tap0 to br0. Thats the xml snippet for defining the network:

I''m trying to move the app to be seen by apache2, and am having some troubles. I''ve looked through many guides online which all say pretty much the same thing, which, I think, I am doing.

This is also a reason why Rogier, myself, Alan Cox and others really do not want to have completely open lists that deal with security related aspects of running a system as way too many people just jump to conclusions and give suggestions without doing any reasearch on a subject. -- alex (co-moderator of linux-{security|alert}@redhat.com)] Your message dated: Tue, 16 Sep 97 15:06:58 GMT > On Tue, 16 Sep 1997 09:50:08 -0400, pstewart <pstewart@ONCOMDIS.ON.CA> wrote: > > Well, first of all, as a general rule chmod -s all files except those that &...
