[PATCH libnbd] docs: Change docs/Makefile.inc back to a regular include, readd to git.
...ld the earlier version of $(man_MANS) without the api-built man pages listed. This was confirmed by looking at the output of ‘make -d -C docs all-am’ and examining what happens when rebuilding all-am. The fix is to change docs/Makefile.inc back to a regular include, which also means we have to readd this generated file to git to allow cold clones to work. Partly reverts commit 15ca7acd6f46188d6f713af8785e35336b0b71f7. --- .gitignore | 1 - docs/Makefile.am | 8 +--- docs/Makefile.inc | 98 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ generator/generator | 2 +- 4 files chan...

Ghost DNS Entry (WERR_DNS_ERROR_RECORD_ALREADY_EXISTS)
...o, I'm using Samba 4 AD in production now for more than a half year. All works great since today. Today I was unable to access my network printer by its hostname. So I looked up his DNS Entry using the Windows DNS-Manager and recognized that the DNS entry for the printer is missing. I tried to readd it, but got the error message that the entry already exists. Next I tried to remove an add the entry using samba-tool. Here is what I did: root at vserver2:~# samba-tool dns query vserver2 int.sebhen.de farbmfp A -U administrator Password for [SEBHEN\administrator]: Name=, Records=0, Children=0...

making a route sticky
...is executed, but it goes down (and up again) later, the route is removed from kernel routing tables So, if there are any problems with ADSL link, I need to manually reset my VPN setup. I could write some monitoring script (and call it from cron) that would check if route is present and attempt to readd it if needed, but I'd rather be able to have the route either sticky (not removed when interface goes down) or automatically reenabled by the kernel when interface goes up again. Thanks, Aleksandar Milivojevic ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was s...

Upgrade Samba 3.0.28 to 3.6.0 problems
...e samba as a PDC with roaming profiles and user shares. I have to upgrade it to allow Windows 7 Pro workstations to join the domain. I was able to build the binaries sucessfully and install them, everything ran OK, but.... I noticed that my smbpasswd file had I guess been relocated and I had to readd the PC's and users to the smbpasswd file (smbpasswd -a username, smbpassword -ma machinename), etc. I noticed that I had to have the PC's un-join and re-join the domain in order for them to work. I noticed that none of the local profiles loaded, instead creating a new roaming profile us...

Help interpreting RAID1 space allocation
...ed all data from the volume (did not recreate the filesystem), and copied just over 300GB of data onto the volume, which is the current state. Only as I was typing this up did I notice that the mount options still show degraded from the original mount. I expected that once the second drive was readded, since it showed up as part of the volume automatically (I assume because the UUIDs matched?), however since all data appears to have been written to the first drive, I am led to believe that the second drive was present but not readded, even though it reappeared as devid 2 in the listing. [PATCH v24 1/2] mm: support reporting free page blocks
...se pages, and holding > the lock is interfering with this something. I've been thinking about it. How about the following scheme: 1. register balloon to get a (new) callback when free list runs empty 2. take pages off the free list, add them to the balloon specific list 3. report to host 4. readd to free list at tail 5. if callback triggers, interrupt balloon reporting to host, and readd to free list at tail This needs some thought wrt what happens when there are multiple users of this API, but looks like it will work. -- MST

Re: filesystem
...it's content to figure out, whether an object with the given name already exists. With dir_index, there is an additional form of sorted tree in the directory, which speeds up this lookup process. Now, when you remove that feature and then e2fsck, all those indexes will be removed. If you later readd the feature and e2fsck, those indexes get recreated. >From the developer point of view, one approach is to read and understand the kernel sources for ext2/3/4 or just start writing your own file system checker. If you get that right, you've understood the file system ;) Not much more advic...

Samba 3.0.2 PDC, reinstallted box fails to rejoin domain
...led the settings in secpol.msc) I deleted the entry in smbpasswd using smbpasswd -x -m trick$, added it new and still the same problem. (The UID are right) Out of curiousity to track the error down I went to a different box and took it out of the domain, to see if this one would still be able to readd it . Well it didn't work. :( I hope you guys see what is wrong. I didn't do big changes in the smb.conf, since almost 2 years ago, when I set samba as PDC up and joined the windows boxes. Configuration file is at the end. ( Plesae excuse the long mail) while trying to add host trick...

filesystem
I hope this is the right list. I have created an ext2 filesystem and removed the dir_index feature. I don't know if this kind of experimentation is going to help me learn something about filesystems or not. Well what is dir_index? Then I ran e2fsck -f -v -pD and the /dev file. Now what did I remove? Htree. I guess it can always be put back and it's on an experimental filesystem.

[PATCH stable-1.24] Fix fstab block device resolution for FreeBSD
The device name prefix for IDE hard drives used to be `ad' but now is `ada' (http://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/disks-naming.html). For virtio hard drives it is `vtbd'. Under an MBR partition table a slice will be used, so the name of the first partitions will be either `ada0s1a' or `vtbd0s1a'. Under a GPT partition table, where no slice is needed, the name of the first

Migration Of Records From Old Samba Domain To New One
...there some parameters I would be wise to exclude from the import (like, all the timestamps, objectGUID and objectSid, for example)? I believe that my worst-case-scenario is that I'll need to create a shell script filled with "samba-tool" commands for each user and group, then (gulp) readd all my users to the groups they belonged to.
