Dnsmasq and /etc/hosts
Hi, I just setup CentOS 7 on three boxes to fiddle with it. 1. amandine.sandbox.lan is a headless LAN server 2. bernadette.sandbox.lan is a client desktop 3. raymonde.sandbox.lan is another client desktop I've setup Dnsmasq on amandine.sandbox.lan. Here's the very basic configuration: # /etc/dnsmasq.conf domain-needed bogus-priv interface=enp3s1 dhcp-range=192.168.3.100,192.168.3.200,24h local=/sandbox.lan/ domain=sandbox.lan expand-hos...

Postfix dovecot SASL and LDAP not working...
Hi, I'm trying to setup a new mail server where postfix 2.3-20060405 would use Dovecot's SASL and users located in LDAP. It's with dovecot-1.0-beta5. On the postfix side, I followed the SASL_README and have the following in main.cf: smtpd_sasl_type = dovecot smtpd_sasl_path = private/auth smtpd_sasl_auth_enable = yes On the dovecot side I have the following related to auth:

SSL alert number 42
That is good to know. I was working on the wrong assumption, attempting to create a client certificate on the Windows/Thunderbird side. I am using the SSL Certificate that comes with the distribution, so the conclusion is Thunderbird does not trust it. I have this in my notes from ages ago, for generating my own self-signed certificate: % openssl req -x509 -newkey rsa:4096 -sha256 -keyout

Connect to MySQL monitor on another host in the LAN ?
...a web server (LAMP). After installing MySQL (yum install mysql-server), the default setup has a few accounts without any password. First thing I usually do (correct me if this is wrong) is clean up these accounts and only keep one main root at localhost account. Something like this : [root at raymonde:~] # mysql Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g. Your MySQL connection id is 2 Server version: 5.0.77 Source distribution Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the buffer. mysql> use mysql; Reading table information for completion of tabl...

Tip Sheet for AJAX
Hi all, I''m making an Amy Hoy style tip sheet PDF for the Prototype and Scriptaculous AJAX stuff, to be used with Rails. Are there other resources you would suggest besides the websites themselves (the previous thread about Highlight reminded me of this)? Is there a particular focus that would be helpful for such a document? Preferred fonts or colors? I must say, once you get

Ok everything seemed to install perfectly but where is icecast? Seems like it doesn't install the icecast like the previous versions did. I can find no /usr/local/icecast directory. Re [ogg]
Ok I installed ices and everything installed fine. What am I supposed to run to stream .ogg files? icecast or ices? All I want to do is to start a streaming server for ogg/vorbis files. I guess what is confusing is why I need to run an icecast server and an ices server. Another thing that is confusing is why when I type in /usr/local/bin/ices /var/path to/ices-playlist.xml absolutely nothing

Mixed Autehtnication and password schemes
Hi Looking for some confirmation/direction on how to achieve the following. We have a requirement to support both SASL PLAIN and DIGEST-MD5 authentication (certification reasons). In addition to this we have an application (webmail) that utilises a master password pattern for access, as the contain web portal provides the necessary authentication. I have access to users passwords in PLAIN text

Document clustering for R
I'm working on a project related to document clustering. I know that R has clustering algorithms such as clara, but only supports two distance metrics: euclidian and manhattan, which are not very useful for clustering documents. I was wondering how easy it would be to extend the clustering package in R to support other distance metrics, such as cosine distance, or if there was an API for

Hello: I went to the archives of xiph and searched for ogg. I read through about a hundred messages that are archived and still can't tell whether icecast will stream ogg. Does anyone know what streaming server I should set up to stream ogg/vorbis format (on a Linux OS)?
