...the PDC Emulator role, or add more DCs to the site. I would assume the answer is the same for a Samba domain. Though I would be interested in understanding how the OP came to the conclusion that they need to cache the LDAP queries. Question about multiple join same PC
I am in the process of rebuilding my workstation which has required a few 'from scratch' (read re-format the disk) installs. Each time after installation, I just join the domain, but I never bother leaving. IP/DNS never changes. There are never any complaints, everything works as expected (wbinfo, getent, etc). Is this considered unknown behaviour, ie am I going to regret this in the

Logging specific Classified packets
Hi All, I''m not convinced I have my tcrules correctly setup and looking at the counters in the mangle table''s tcpost doesn''t really help much as I can''t tell what is the final match. Is there a way to match packets in iptables based on the classifier? i.e. so I can LOG packets classified with 1:18 for example. I can''t see anything in iptables, except

Workstation member server dhcp changing ip
Hi all, I have a working Samba 4.2.4 AD domain on FreeBSD 10.1-releng (DC's) and 10.2-stable (workstation). Internal DNS. I just joined my workstation to the domain and all is great, but when I reboot and if my IP changes, how is Samba going to update the DNS record? At this stage should I be looking at using BIND instead and having my DHCP server update that. I suppose I need to setup

Fwd: Where to put custom rules
Hi All, I have a custom TC configuration where I''m building the tc hierarchy manually with the tcstart script. I also need to add custom iptables rules in the mangle table to classify the packets. Currently I''m using started to insert the iptables commands, but that''s way too late in the process. I tried putting them into the initdone file, but it''s trying to

samba_dlz: Failed to configure zone... already exists
Jim, It wasn't an implication that Samba4 would crash your server, rather it was a question of what happens *if* that box fails (power supply, memory, cpu, disk controller, etc. I've seen 'em all)? Consider this. I had one site with a Microsoft DC providing DHCP to it's clients and shared folders. When that DC failed due to disk controller, it stopped issuing DHCP leases.

Problem with Samba 4.2/FreeBSD10.1
Hi Everyone, my first foray into Samba and AD both. Not sure if this is an OS or configuration problem. I've found similar issues, but nothing either recent enough (is related to samba 3) or close enough. FreeBSD-10.1-RELENG, Samba 4.2.2. I have the domain provisioned as rfc2307 I have joined a Win7-virtual machine to the domain I have created a new user with ADUC I have assigned 10000 to
