Centos 4.1 on RaQ 550?
Has anyone ever tried to install 4.0 or 4.1 on an old Sun RaQ 550 Cobalt
machine? If so would you be willing to share your procedure and experience?
I have spent several hours googling and have found how to do this with
Fedora Core 1 using a 2.4 kernel. However I am wondering what Cobalt
specific patches have to be applied to get 2.6 kernel to work. I have
not found anything related to

.ssh/: Is a directory
I'm depending on scp to create the .ssh directory (which is does) but it
can't use the directory it just created in the current session thus the
"error" message. I would like to run the command just once if possible :)
Is it possible I could get a patch if this is changed?

user mapping
I was wondering if it would be possible to keep a user/uid <-> file map so
that root access wouldn't be necessary to store the files and retrieve them
with the correct original usernames (or uids), specifying a filename on the
command line as something like .rsyncuidmap.
Or even a file system stored in a file that could be "mounted" by rsync and
written any uid/gid etc that

Compiling on a Cobalt RaQ1
Hello,
I've downloaded version 2.5.2 and I tried compiling that one on a Cobalt RaQ1 server (maybe anyone has heard of them, they have that neat blue front). What I want is to make the RaQ1 a remote backup server, so I thought Rsync would be usefull...
The compilation did not work, it stalled trying to compile clientserver.c (or something, I cannot acces the RaQ from where I am now). There

tcl/tk
Hi All;
I have a friend who is wanting to install an updated tcl/tk on a Raq 4
server and I am looking for an easy way to install it on that server....
I guess he needs the updated version on there....
Is there any pkg files out there?
Ideas or recommendations other than replacing the server ????
Thanks

Can't map samba drive from Win2K SP2 Server
I am running smbd version 2.0.9 and cannot map to a samba share from a
Windows 2000 SP2 Server. I can however map from the samba server to the
win2k Server. I can also map from the Windows Server to a windows 2000 Pro
laptop on the same network, so I know that the server can map shares outside
of itself. I can also map from a Win2K pro client and from other unix boxes
to the samba server.
I can

minicom
I need a terminal program, such as minicom, which I see is not part of
my Strongbolt install of CentOS+BQ loaded on a RaQ 4 system. Does anyone
know if a standard rpm for minicom should work or where to get a package
that will provide minicom or other terminal program? Or, perhaps there
is another terminal program installed in my system that I can look for?

[NU-BQ+CentOS] Special Chars not showing up in browsers
Greetings,
I am in the process of moving several large sites to a Tyan+BQ+CentOS box
(built from the Nuonce ISO) and I see that special characters are not
showing up in the browser properly but do show up in the source "view
source" properly. -- very strange.
Example:
on the web page --> Heizungsbau M?ller
in the source --> Heizungsbau M?ller
When I view this on the existing

1.3.11 instability on MIPS?
Hey there.
I have setup an icecast server on a Cobalt RAQ2 (may be a raq1, not
entirely sure) with a MIPS processor. The icecast server compiles, and
runs fine, atleast for a while. But on 2 occasions over the last 10
hours I have had to manually restart the server.
Is there any known bug on the MIPS architechture, or should I
investigate the problem more?
Thanks
Mike

rsync 2.5.5 and Mac OS X
Greetings,
Has anyone successfully compiled rsync 2.5.5 under Mac OS X (not
Server), and actually have it work fully?
I'm in a position where I'm trying to setup an automated nightly remote
backup between and Cobalt Raq4 (running a variant of Redhat Linux) and a
Mac running OS X 10.1.5 with the latest development tools installed. As
has been pointed out previously on the list, one has

Possible UID/GID bug in chrooted shells?
I'm stuck on a problem with rsync...
We've got a chrooted shell with rsync and all the needed libs inside (and not
much else).
We're using rsync over ssh to send the files into this chrooted session. The
rsync binary in the chrooted session is SUID root so that it can create the
files with the correct UID/GID. When the following is run, it creates all the
files as root.staff, not

Connecting to yp.shoutcast.com
I'm using Icecast 1.3.11..
It connects to yp.icecast.org and yp.mp3.de just find.. it looks like
it's trying to go to
http://yp.icecast.org/cgi-bin/touch
However, the shoutcast one says: completed...server id = -1
While the others say: serverid = 69
<p>Has Shoutcast changed something, so that icecast can no longer find
Shoutcasts directory?

Usernames and Passwords for Virtual Users Request
A feature I think would be nice.
When a single IP hosts email for multiple domains the solution is usually to
use the complete email address as the username. I have users that have
migrated from Cobalt RAQ's which do not work like that.
If a user trys to authenticate with just there username such as "joeb"
instead of joeb at dirt.com I would like Dovecot to check all the

open ssl
I am trying to get any version of sshd working on a cobalt raq3/4(one of
each). I tried ssh.com's version(1.2.31) and I got linking errors. I am
going to try to install openssh, but I need to install openssl, and was
wondering if that will mess up the web server on the raqs. Any responses
are welcome.
