lattice: showing panels for factor levels with no values
How to show panels for factor levels of conditioning variables which do have no values? E.g. there are panels for "Grand Rapids" when they have values: data( barley ) with( barley, dotplot(variety ~ yield | year * site, layout=c(6,2) ) ) There are no panels for "Grand Rapids" when there are no values for "Grand Rapids": my.barley <- subset( barley, ! [LLVMdev] "Name that compiler"
...s an ill- deserved nod to NeXT, even. (Completely the wrong language, after all.) Core Compiler? Heh, I don't think that'd get past certain influential marketing departments. Nor is this a C API, but that didn't stop Core Data or Core Image, so y'never know. Veloce, schnell, rapido, rĂ¡pide. Various translations of fast. Schnell is fun, but to an English speaker it has an imperative sense to it that makes it useless as an adjective, IMO. Veloce has a nice ring to it, though; that's Italian. Veloce Code? Velocicode? I think the kit-core-foundation-framework concept...

Xorcom Rapid CD for Production?
Hi All, The past day or so I've setup a new * server based upon the Xorcom Rapid ISO. It did as promised; wiped the base system, installed Debian OS, installed Asterisk with a dummy configuration. So far so good. If I could get the config from my existing * server migrated to the Xorcom box the I'd be ready to roll. Essentially, it would be the same as I have now on Fedora...

Firefox 78 under CentOS 6 -- no sound?
...y it appears that Red Hat has released another Firefox: Red Hat just follow the Mozilla ESR stream release cycle, which is currently ESR 78 with point releases come out every 4 weeks or so Each ESR stream is supported by Mozilla for about a year, with each major release based on the standard 'rapid release' version at the time - i.e. the previous ESR version was 68, based on the Firefox rapid release version 68 and the current ESR version is 78, based on the Firefox rapid release version 78. The ESR point releases coincide with the rapid release major releases, although the ESR point rele...

Rapid Random Access
...ngle one is manageable. It's just when there's a million of them that the machine might start to burn up. However I might, for example, want to compute some averages over the elements in the data frames. Or I might want to sample ten of them at random and do some plots. What I need is rapid random access to data stored in external files. Here's some ideas I've had: * Store all the data in an HDF-5 file - problem here is that the current HDF package for R reads the whole file in at once. * Store the data in some other custom binary format with an index for rapid acc...

Rapid deployment of CentOS on HP Proliant machines
Has anyone successfully deployed CentOS on HP Proliant servers using the Altiris Rapid Deployment (RDP) framework? This works out of the box with RHEL 5.1 but I have not been able to get this to work with CentOS 5.1. If anyone knows of an article on all the details to be able to deploy CentOS to a bare machine Proliant Server, I would appreciate a pointer. I did make the ch...

Rapid Ajax requests out of order
I''m trying to write an ajax chat. I''m noticing that when ajax requests are fired off in rapid succession, they often will arrive out of order to the server. Has anyone experienced this problem, and perhaps implemented some kind of queueing system? Any other suggestions? Thanks! Thanks, Joshua Sierles

Intel Rapid Boot Toolkit - UEFI Hypervisor : Cloud Computing Firmware / Firmware-as-a-Service
...el development going at once, when it's not clear there could be any ROI for adding CoreBoot in a general product offering. Moreover, there are many liability and ownership issues due to its GPL-Licence. So, that's why after a thorough research work, I definitely believe that the Intel Rapid Boot Toolkit [3] could be the perfect BIOS Framework knowing that it is UEFI-Based and that it provides a Linux payload, like coreboot, enabling a Firmware-as-a-Service Model. To quote [4]: "Intel, Dell, and servers that change with the phases of the moon As we reported a while back, Dell i...
