Caching user accounts on a Linux portable
...Is there a way to get the same behaviour on Linux? I want my linux-laptop
users to be able to logon to their laptops even if they are not connected
to the network. I know I can add local accounts to /etc/passwd but that
kind of defeats the purpose of setting up an AD domain.

Samba DC sync issues - help
...ffice
Replicate from dc1 to dc2 was successful.
However nothing changes, when I do an ldapcmp I still see the same errors.
What am I doing wrong? (Note: the clocks are synchronised) I've been
trying to solve this for a week now but I cannot figure out what is going
wrong.

How to set unix properties from command line
...pdbedit
but they seem to be able to change only basic settings. I know I can do it
through RSAT but I don't want to have to start a Windows vm just to manage
my users.
How can I manage Unix properties for my Samba AD users from the
command-line in Linux?
Thanks in advance,

Samab DC's not syncing
...f the DC's fixed
this.
I tried running:
samba-tool ldapcmp ldap://dc1 ldap://dc2 -Uadministrator
--filter=msDS-NcType,serverState,subrefs
But it doesn't show any issues (but I did that after the reboot).
Is there any way to force an update between 2 samba dc's?

Cannot write to home directory, but I can write to subfolder
...I am
however able to create files and folders in the subdirectory I created from
windows.
Fortunately most other users can create files in their homedirectories
without problems.
Any idea what could be causing this and how to resolve it?
Rebooting the server is not an option.

Suddenly can''t access the puppetmaster anymore
Hi,
I have a number of puppets talking to 1 puppetmaster. Everything was
working fine until suddenly this week the puppets are revolting.
Whenever I try to run ''puppetd -v'' I see a lot of messages like:
Certificates were not trusted: hostname was not match
I''m sure I did not make any changes to DNS lately and I didn''t upgrade
puppet on any of the machines
