...doesn't provide the capabilities yet, you may know from Windows. I mentioned the pitfalls in a 'known issues' section and of course I've reported the incompatibilities/bugs (#10371 and #10403) Out of this HowTo a small second one has been risen: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Raising_the_functional_levels (Also found a problem here, when raising the levels from Windows: #10360) Any kind of feedback is welcome. :-) Regards, Marc

Domain Functionality Level and GPO password policies
...umbled across the domain Functionality Level which if I understand means that I have to increase it from 2003 to 2008 in order to be able to allow this. Is this true, do I have to upgrade the level, or am I just missing the way to achieve the above? I see that ... https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Raising_the_functional_levels#Impact_of_upgrading_the_functional_levels ...talks about the ensuring that your forest level isn't higher than your domain level so I'll set them both to 2008 functionality, and I presume that if I increase this on my PDC I'll need to increase it on my other Samba4 domain controller...

Samba 4.5.2, 4.5.3, 4.5.4 as secondary DC to Windows 2008 R2
...erent thing to your server functional level, > so you can keep the domain functional level at 2008R2, which is what > Samba has reasonable support for. As this week I also looked into the functional levels that samba supports, I must say that this wiki page: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Raising_the_Functional_Levels looks as if samba 4.4 and later support 2012_R2. I understand that this is not the case, but I feel that the info on the wiki is (at least) confusing. (or even plain wrong) MJ

Raising Domain Level
G'day All, We are trying to raise the level of our test samba4 DCs. Our windows dude wants the Domain level to be 2012_R2. I am referencing: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Raising_the_Functional_Levels#Supported_Functional_Levels We managed to get both domain and forest levels to 2008 R2 - forest was 2003. However, when we try to raise further, we are getting what seems to be a chicken and egg issue. # samba-tool domain level raise --domain-level=2012_R2 ERROR: Domain function level can...

Hello Andrew, first let me say it was a pleasure to meet you in G?ttingen at the SambaXP. The discussion about the "DNS" in the evening was very interesting.
