Modules, controllers and inheritance
Hi!
I was trying to cleanup my app and I runned into quite a problem. My
controllers in submodule do not seem to inherit things from base
class.
I have following setup:
app/controllers/
application.rb:
class ApplicationController
admin/
admin_controller.rb:
class Admin::AdminController < ApplicationController
include LoginEngine
include UserEngine

User Engine/General Engine issues
I''m trying to get the login/user engine combo up and working and am
having difficulties. I got the login engine up and running fine, no
problems. Now, on to the user engine.
After fixing the needed stuff in the bootstrap task so it loads I''m
able to login as the default admin ok. BUT none of the
views/controllers that are in login/user_controller are being

Need clarification for Rails Engines SVN repository
Hi all !
Could someone tell me what''s what in the Rails Engines Subversion
repository ? There are many folders where the Rails Engine is
located, and from the folder names alone, I can''t really guess what''s
what.
For example, the rails engine plugin is situated at:
plugins/engine
engines/trunk
branches/engines
branches/edge_engines
From the log, I gather

LoginEngine problems
I''m trying to get a simple authentication system going for a small rails app.
After much research, it looks like LoginEngine should do exactly what I want.
Now, the documentation is somewhat confusing to me when looked at in the light
of reality. There are some places that say you have to install the "engines"
plugin. But, I cannot find such a beast.
So, I installed the

app no longer runs - MissingSourceFile for any controller
Hello all. I somehow managed to break my rails app running under Apache 2
with fcgi. With any action I try, it throws an exception saying it can''t
find the source file. For instance, requesting an action in my
welcome_controller results in:
MissingSourceFile in <controller not set>#<action not set>
No such file to load -- app/controllers/welcome_controller.rb

UserEngine: stack level too deep
Hi,
I''m trying to get the UserEngine running.
I have installed the LoginEngine, added the essential lines to
environment.rb / application.rb and application_helper.rb.
Worked fine.
Then I did the same with the UserEngine and when trying to set up the
db:
rake engine_migrate ENGINE=user
I get:
Migrating engine ''user_engine''
rake aborted!

Need Login/Authorization/User Management Advice
I''m new ot rails and am revamping one of my first rails projects and
would like some advice on user authentication and management.
In my app I implemented the basic user login functionality as it is in
the Agile Web Developement book. Though it works great I''d like a bit
more functionality such as: user levels/roles (i.e level1, level2,
level3, admin) type permission,

UserEngine -- Permission.synchronize_with_controllers -- trouble with my own controller modules
I suspect there''s an easier version of this question that I could ask,
but I''m not sure where I''m going wrong. I have LoginEngine and
UserEngine setup and seemingly running fine. However, not all of my
controllers are being found when I run "rake sync_permissions".
Specifically, it''s the controllers that are not in the base
controllers folder, but

Mysql::Error: Lost connection to MySQL server during query
...P SP2 box with Ruby
1.8.2/Rails 1.0.0/MySQL 5.0.16 or 4.1.15 (yes, I tried both) installed
running against a remote MySQL server that was either 3.23 or 4.1
(4.1.15 to be exact--we finally matched them both up to make sure that
wasn''t the problem).
So I post it here (as well as in the Rails_Engine forum, where it first
arose for me), in the hopes that it will save someone else some
significant trouble.
Just for the record, in case others have this problem, what I did was
download a compresssed .RAR file for mysql 4.1.15 (mysql-ruby-win32.rar)
and copied the mysql.so file to the location...

LoginEngine / UserEngine conceptual help
All,
I have a small Intranet app I''m trying to get ready for remote access.
(I only have 15 or so users for now and I don''t plan to be adding
very many more.).
I have installed the login engine and it seems to be working as
advertized. (Great job!)
For my needs I don''t want random people to be able to register and get
access to my app, but I will need to register
