Should probably have figured out how to use the original ZIP archive
from the vendor
ftp://ftp.areca.com.tw/RaidCards/AP_Drivers/Linux/DRIVER/CentOS/CentOS-5.0/1.20.0X.13/arcmsr.redhat.1.20.0x.13.zip
in the spec, but instead cheated and created a .tgz archive from it to
stay closer to the r1000 spec file's approach:
$ tar ztvf arcmsr.redhat.1.20.0x.13.tgz

what is the best way to hook up my drives
...ng to use 2 Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 cards (pci-x 133 each with 8
sata ports)
The motherboard is going to be either Supermicro mbd-c2sbx or Supermicro
mbd-x7sbe both have 6 onboard sata ports. So, I''ve got a couple things i
could do...If possible i''d like to avoid buying another raidcard UNLESS i
can find one for under 100 dollars......what i''m wondering is, what is the
best way to construct my vdevs.
Should i have all 4 drives on a single raid card, then the next vdev on
another raid card? Should i try to create them where i put 1 drive on one
card, 2 on one then one on...

I Still Have My Data
My test setup of 8 x 2G virtual disks under Virtual Box on top of Mac
OS X is running nicely! I haven''t lost a *single* byte of data.

Moving a pool from FreeBSD 8.0 to opensolaris
I was wondering what the best method of moving a pool from FreeBSD 8.0 to
OpenSolaris is.
When i originally built my system, it was using hardware which wouldn''t work
in opensolairs, but i''m about to do an upgrade so i should be able to use
Opensolaris when i''m done.
My current system uses a Highpoint RocketRaid 2340. It has 12 1TB hard
drives an intel core2 quad

OpenSolaris better Than Solaris10u6 with requards to ARECA Raid Card
....asc.edu scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice] ASC: 0x4
(LUN is becoming ready), ASCQ: 0x1, FRU: 0x0
zfs eventually would degrade the drives due to the errors. I''m positive that there is nothing wrong with my hardware.
Here is the driver I used under Solaris 10 u6.

I got these errors using either JBOD or configuring the Drives as
pass-through.
I turned off NCQ and Tagged Queuing and still got errors.
