analyze binary variables in R
Hello,
know somebody a "nice" strategy to analyze a lot of binary variables with hundred to thousands of cases.
P.S.
One nice example for this and something more is the configurational approach from C.Ragin
http://www.nwu.edu/sociology/tools/qca/qca.html ,but i fight with the complexity of my data
and the speed of the contibuted software in TCL/TK and would attempt to implement this in R !
thanks for any suggestions

new package QCA
Dear list members,
I am pleased to let you know that R met with QCA - Qualitative Comparative
Analysis.
This package has a few functions that implement the Quine-McCluskey algorithm,
adapted to social sciences by Charles Ragin (as describes in his book from
1987 "The Comparative Method").
Future versions of this package will have more functions to address the
fuzzy-set minimization problems, as well.
Big thanks to the r-help list members, supportive as ever, especially to Gabor
Grothendieck and Martin Maech...

Does anybody know of aything that will help me do Quantitiative
Comparative Analysis (QCA) and/or Fuzzy set analysis?? Or failing that

some QCA questions
Dear Adrian Dusa, others,
I've recently started to learn R in order to use the QCA package because
i think it might offer what other QCA packages don't: possibilities for
quite a few conditions and large n. However, can someone tell me approx.
how much RAM i need to run QCA on set of +/- 400.000 cases and +/- 15
conditions? (or differently: how much time will it take with RAM of a

There is a package called QCA which (in its first release) performs only
crisp set analysis. I am currently adapting a Graphical User Interface,
but
the functions are nevertheless usefull.
For fuzzy set analysis, please consider Charles Ragin's web site
http://www.u.arizona.edu/%7Ecragin/fsQCA/index.shtml
which offers a software (still not complete, though). Also to consider
is a good software called Tosmana (http://www.tosmana.org/) which does
multi-value
QCA.
I am considering writing the inclusion algorithms in the next releases
