Hello and Stream Listing
...get listed in the YP?
I have the code in place but I don't see the station listed anywhere.
----
<directory>
<yp-url-timeout>15</yp-url-timeout>
<yp-url>http://dir.xiph.org/cgi-bin/yp-cgi</yp-url>
</directory>
----
I see myself on Oddsock and radiotoolbox but not icecast.org.
It's not a big deal right now since I am doing some testing anyway but I
wanted to know if there was a place I had to sign-up to get listed.
Thanks!

Hello and Stream Listing
...I have limited control of the streaming server. I have a web control
panel and that's with a few setting that can be changed.
(start and stop the server, change passwords, setup relays and enter YP
servers)
There is a section "You can enter up to 5 yp directory servers" with the
radiotoolbox, oddsock and icecast already in it.
All I see in the box is what I posted.

Monitoring
Is there any software that can be run in windows to monitor icecast mounts, ie, user count etc..
I swear I seen one before but I can't remember where.

AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
...he shoutcast DSP
is mono.
Vorbis q -2 http://soulfm.stationplaylist.com/listen.m3u
AAC+ 32kb/s http://stream.gottabelieve.org:9000/soulfm.aac.m3u
I think the treble is much more natural with AAC.
Happy comparisons.
Ross.

You should do stereo and then do an aacplus stream at 32kbps along side,
we
can compare the two objectively.

id3-tags of static files
The protocol of sending of metadata over a stream (which is HTTP) does not
allow for this type of thing. The problem is not necessarily the fact that
the id3 tags are at the end of the files, as id3v2 does not have this
restriction, but rather just the "agreed" upon protocol for handling
metadata for streamed mp3s (and I'm only going to talk about mp3s here,
since it's

YP Directories?
...nning. I want to know if any of you have a
good list of yp directories that will accept yp submissions
from a public server. If you know of any that I don't, please
feel free to e-mail me with more. Here's what I have come
across so far:
http://radio.indymedia.org/cgi-bin/yp-cgi
http://www.radiotoolbox.com/mediatoolbox/yp-cgi.php
http://dir.xiph.org/cgi-bin/yp-cgi
http://www.oddsock.org/cgi-bin/yp-cgi
I may be putting together a good index of these soon and
posting them to my blog for other people to be able to view,
so I appreciate any help. I may also setup my own ypdir using
the icecast2yp co...

AW: id3-tags of static files
thx oddsock for your detailed reply, I think I now understand the problem :)
I'm currently using a php-script (mp3 toolbox -
http://www.radiotoolbox.com/downloads/) to stream static mp3's on-demand,
and this script obviously sends the icy-headers (which are the shoutcast
metadata protocol, right?).
however, I think that it would be a nice feature for icecast to support
these icy-headers, is this planned for future releases, or do you think...

AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
I should have provided a link to my low bitrate vorbis stream. It's a
mostly easy listening world music format:

documentation on icecst stream
Where is documentation on the format of the icecast stream. I can only
find docs on the server.
I've asked this before and several said RFC 2616, which says NOTHING
about icecast streams.
So, where is the docs on the actual streaming. Is it mp3? mp3 with id3v2?

Simple streamer help
Hi --
I am trying to add limited streaming capability to an existing mp3 setup
I'm running for internal use at my house.
I'm using the "mp3sb" package with a php-based web front-end to pipe music
to my stereo; now I want to extend that so I can use the same web interface
to stream to computers in the house. I don't want to run shout or another
streaming front-end

AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
Yea, don't get me wrong, ogg is definitely an awesome format but aacplus v2
is currently the leader in high fidelity quality at low bitrates. 24kbps
aacplus even kicks ass in my view.
I hope that this only stimulates even more competitive codecs at dialup
speeds.

AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
Yes it is 44.1kHz. However SBR is not the original, everything higher then
22.05kHz is recreated. Also Parametric Stereo recreates the Stereo
experience. The actual audio data is simply a 24kbps AAC stream at 22050
mono. Also it is by no means perfect. The highs do have an artificial feel
to them and a little echo. For what it is though most people don't really
get annoyed by it and are
