Failure to install boot loader on Dell PowerEdge R720xd
What command does the installer use to install the boot loader? I sucessfully installed CentOS 8 to the server, with /usr on a mirrored SSD pair on the RAID controller and /boot on the internal SD card (where Dell wants one to boot from). Before rebooting, I inspected the installation at /mnt/sysimage and the disk usage looked reasonable. I saw a grub directory in /boot but no second stage

Failure to install boot loader on Dell PowerEdge R720xd
It was set to BIOS when I got the error that installing the bootloader failed. I'm now trying it in UEFI mode.

CentOS 8 partiitioning for reliability
I was just given a Dell R720xd with 160 GB memory and 12x 900 GB drives that I plan to deploy as my home mail/file/backup server to replace an aging Supermicro server running CentOS 7. Yeah, it's gross overkill for that and I expect to tuck most of the drives away for spares. How should I RAID and partition this beast fo...

Need to add NIC drivers to PXELinux
Does anyone have a link to good instruction on have to add drivers to PXELinux? I imagine I need to cram them into its initrd.img file. I am using PXELinux to help me deploy Linux systems from WDS and we just received in a bunch of Dell R720xd systems that are going to require new NIC drivers and possibly Mass Storage drivers. Thanks Jon Weatherhead - 51596

CentOS 7 as a Fibre Channel SAN Target
For quite some time I?ve been using FreeNAS to provide services as a NAS over ethernet and SAN over Fibre Channel to CentOS 7 servers each using their own export, not sharing the same one. It?s time for me to replace my hardware and I have a new R720XD that I?d like to use in the same capacity but configure CentOS 7 as a Fibre Channel target rather than use FreeNAS any further. I?m doing virtualization and this will allow me to have failover from one node to the other since they?ll all be sharing the same export rather than me simply backing up...

Typical setup questions
All, I am curious what is used typically for the file system replication and how do you make sure that it is consistent. So for example when using large 3TB+ sata/NL-sas drives. Is is typical to replicate three times to get similar protection to raid 6? Also what is typically done to ensure that all replicas are in place and consistent? A cron that stats of ls's the file system from a

CentOS 8 partiitioning for reliability
Honestly, something that big I put a NAS variant on it like OpenMediaVault, and CentOS and other distros in virtuals for jobs. Broadcom NetXtreme bcm5720 in the 9.1 beta
Team I have a Dell PowerEdge R720xd, with the Broadcom NetXtreme bcm5720. I found the following thread: http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=31769 I find I am unable to use the NIC's (there are 4 on the server). When we put a cable into it we get a "watchdog timeout -- resetting" error, and the machine will p...

suggestions for large filesystem server setup (n * 100 TB)
Hi, over time the requirements and possibilities regarding filesystems changed for our users. currently I'm faced with the question: What might be a good way to provide one big filesystem for a few users which could also be enlarged; backuping the data is not the question. Big in that context is up to couple of 100 TB may be. O.K. I could install one hardware raid with e.g. N big drives
