Bug#787229: xen-hypervisor-4.4-amd64: xl command hangs on Dell R720
Package: xen-hypervisor-4.4-amd64 Version: 4.4.1-9 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Hi, I was running Debian Wheezy (amd64) and xen-hypervisor 4.1 on a Dell PowerEdge R720. Xen was working fine. Xen was configured with LVM Now, I'm trying Debian Jessie (amd64) and I have a strange problem. After booting, Xen seems to be working : /etc/init.d/xen status ? xen.service - LSB: Xen daemons Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/xen) Active: activating (start) since sam....

I'm afraid I don't know what may or may not have happened to your installation, just that this fake-start-stop-daemon thing is very likely interfering with the operation of Xen by not actually starting daemons. I suggest you try asking somewhere like the debian-users list to see if anyone there knows what this thing is or what to do about it. Ian. On Tue, 2015-06-02 at 15:22 +0200,

Bug#787229: Bug#787229: xen-hypervisor-4.4-amd64: xl command hangs on Dell R720
Hi, Thanks for your answer. During the Debian jessie installation, I had a problem at grub step. The os-prober part was stuck : grub was at 66 % (os-prober tried to browse all the VM on LVM partitions) After more than 15 minutes, os-prober seems to be stuck, so I rebooted the server. I had to boot in rescue mode, then, reinstalled grub and modified it to add

Has anyone used a Dell with a PERC H310?
I''m trying to configure a DELL R720 (not a pleasant experience) which has an H710p card fitted. The H710p definitely doesn''t support JBOD, but the H310 looks like it might (the data sheet mentions non-RAID). Has anyone used one with ZFS? Thanks, -- Ian.

Very odd issue w/ a CentOS 6 system
Now, this is one we have an issue with: it's got a bttv card, and motion running on it. It's a Dell PE R720. For some reason, it has never liked the card: 20 min after reboot, it says fatal bus error... but nothing's wrong, and it runs just fine. Well, expect that we need to keep it on the 2.6.32-431.20.3 kernel, because *everything* later, it randomly starts rebooting, several times a day. But we...

Typical setup questions
All, I am curious what is used typically for the file system replication and how do you make sure that it is consistent. So for example when using large 3TB+ sata/NL-sas drives. Is is typical to replicate three times to get similar protection to raid 6? Also what is typically done to ensure that all replicas are in place and consistent? A cron that stats of ls's the file system from a

kernel parm question: MPS? pcie_bus_safe
I'm fighting a long-standing problem: we've got a Dell PE R720 with a BT878 card in it, running four surveillance cameras (it's a secure room). Since I put the card in, within 20-30 min, the box's little LCD screen goes orange, and complains "bus error" on the slot the card's in; I've moved it to different slot, no joy. Note that the...
