rgl-snapshot failed (err-msg: "failed")
...===============
There was a graphic created by rgl, but the snapshot was
not created.
The same problem occurs, when I use
> example(rgl.snapshot)
The graphic/animation will be created, but there is no possibility
to create the output-files.
I use "R version 2.4.0 Patched (2006-11-25 r39997)".
Is this a problem of this old version? or is there
maybe a general problem, independent of the version?
Any ideas?
Best,
oliver

Problems with e1071 and SparseM
...error again.
According to the manual of svm(), this is supposed to work though:
" x: a data matrix, a vector, or a sparse matrix (object of class
'matrix.csr' as provided by the package 'SparseM'). "
Used R version: R version 2.4.0 Patched (2006-11-25 r39997)
Does anyone know how I can use Sparse Matrices with e1071? This would be
really important because the matrix is simply too large to write it out.
Best regards,
Chris

Any thoughts? I would be happy to compile R locally if that would help.

R and Debian Linux
...i Folks,
Lately I've been testing out recent versions of various
Linux distributions, preparatory to choosing which one
I want to upgrade to.
One of these is debian 4.0 ("Etch").
I can install R on it as a debian package (it comes
through as "R version 2.4.0 Patched (2006-11-25 r39997)".
Many of the extra packages are also present as debs,
and install and perform without problems.
But I've also tried installing some other packages,
not available as debs, from sources on CRAN.
Here I encounter a show-stopper: "gfortran not found".
It turns out that the only...

Deb-4.0 Etch and sources.list for R
Hi Folks,
I'm running Debian-4.0 Etch, installed last September
from a DVD, and regularly updated as things arise.
I have R version 2.4.0 Patched (2006-11-25 r39997)
installed (initially at the time of first installation
of Debian, as provided by Debian), along with a variety
of packages.
I'd like to be able to connect to the CRAN repositories
for Debian R, for updates etc.
When I visit

using image to show RGB image data ?
Hello all,
I'm now using image() to show image data (in my case dumps of SOM
weights) but would like to show RGB colour data, not just single "z"
colour values.
I've currently been using seq() to skip 4 values, so I can show the R, G
or B channels separately as "z". But is there a way I can show all three
channels simultaneously as a proper colour image?
Thanks,
B.
