If you think you need the 'winbind enum' lines so that 'getent' works,
then think again ;-)
If you do not have the 'winbind enum 'lines 'getent passwd username'
will still work.

quota problems with ext3/249-ac9
...re 7.x-current from
january or so, all the quota-utils from the original distribution.
the kernel prompts correctly "VFS: Diskquotas version dquot_6.5.0
initialized" and that was it. neither quotacheck nor repquota or any other
quota-related tool works as it should do.
Are there updated quotatools which are capable of handling ext3
filesystems? I searched the net for a while and couldn't find anything
related to quota-utils...

samba and share quota
Hi to all,
I'm looking for a tutorial/howto to manage disk quota share.
I found some documents about filesystem quotas using quotatool but none
about quota on samba shares.
In smb.conf man I found "get quota command" and " set quota command" but
I didn't understand if I can use them to set share quota and I didn't
find documents about it.
Anyone knows a

Quota and Samba4
Hallo,
I have a samba4- ad and samba4 fileserver. Fileserver is joined in AD. I configured the home shares which is working pretty. Now I'm trying to setup user quota.
I installed quota, quotatool and did the necessary preferences in fstab. Setup quota, but nothing is working. Set quota with edquote -u <username>. Repquota shows my testuser with right quota, but when i mount the share

While it is true that i can live happily without 'winbind enum', it is
not completely true that 'no one needs' that.
For example, quota:

Quota: Maildir and other files
Hi everybody,
I'm currently working on the quota limits in dovecot, and Maildir
quota is working fine, it reports the correct numbers.
But our users also have additional space where they can put files, and
I would like both to have the same quota of 2 GB. So mails + files
should not exceed 2 GB.
What is the best way to solve this?
I already tried the following:
- I put the files in

Problems with Samba and Windows 2003 Active Domain Server
Can somebody with experience making a RedHat Fedora Core 3 server with Samba installed work in a Windows 2003 Active Domain please
give me some pointers? I have a small installation with one Windows 2003 Server running as a domain controller for about 10 Windows

Problem logon to PDC

I have setup a cluster system with drbd and heartbeat. I have samba running
as a PDC. Everything works great when I am on server1 But when failover

I Have symlinks to my home share : /var/cache/samba , /etc/samba/ who are
synced between 2 servers.
Do I have to sync another files ??
