The trick here is to find a way of serving the preroll without everyone
hearing it.
I guess you could use some on connect logic to determine if it should be

Winamp streaming to icecast2
Hello,
I'm trying to set up winamp to stream a live event to an icecast2
server. I've got the icecast2 server set up, and to date have streamed
playlists only via ices0 or ices2, now I'm wanting to stream live
using winamp.
Software wise, I'm needing to use free or open source software, the
icecast2 server is a Linux machine, the Winamp will be on either a
Win7 or a WinXP

Encoding on a "dumb" pc
I knew I left something out.
It would be MP3 encoded at 16kbps/16000Hz

Use mountsettings with ices2 or ezstream?
Ok! But i'm only streaming from a folder on my server using ices2.
Is this still possible?

Use mountsettings with ices2 or ezstream?
Since I use ices i don't use the mountpoints in icecast.xml.
And the option with intro song is only available under mountpoint and not
with ices, correct?
Regards...

Icecast segmentation faults
hi
i'm getting segfaults with Icecast thus:
Feb 7 10:27:06 server kernel: icecast[19308]: segfault at a36bc3db eip
0805d5e3 esp b78fd120 error 4
Feb 7 12:01:06 server kernel: icecast[20417]: segfault at dc2d718e eip
080571df esp b62540f0 error 5
i cron a script every minute to restart Icecast if it fails and to
notify me - so i know that this is happening about once every 12 hours
or so.

Regarding fallback mount points.
Hi all. I finally got my automating stream working. now, I do have a question for you all regarding fallback mount. I believe I have them setup correctly. but what I would want to do is when I go to http://kjscradio.com:8000/stream.mp3.m3u, I would like it to fallback to the mount point that I have setup for my automation stream. Then, when a source drops the connection from the /stream.mp3.m3u

Ices 0.4 and basic scripting
Hi,
I have a strong recollection of basic scripting of the type found in Ices
2.x being added to Ices 0.x, but there's nothing in the documentation about
it.
Is it in Ices 0.4 or only in SVN? Or am I completely wrong about this?
Geoff.

Ices 0.4 and basic scripting
Hi,
I ended up taking a look at the sources. Basic scripting is indeed only
available in SVN.
Anyone know what's holding up a point release or something? This is quite a
useful feature and means that script front-ends that work with Ezstream and
Ices 2.x can now also work with Ices 0.x.

Streaming to Doja devices
...he next group of pages
when the client requests more data. MP4 format uses a single data box that
contains all media (as I understand) that would require me to implement a
mechanism to split and keep track of the data send.
any comments appreciated....

RTSP reflection.
Hi
Where do I find instruction to configure icecast as a reflect server for
rtsp?
Scenario:
Client1 sends audio to IceCast via rtsp
Client2 receives audio from IceCast via rtsp.
I need to just setup this behaviour..

Move listeners problems
Hi!
I'm using Icecast 2.3.1 (xubuntu Hardy) and have problems moving
listeners. I thought it had to do with the client, but now that I've
tested cortado, mplayer and vlc I've begun to think it is actually the
server. I'm using the web administration interface to move listeners,
get '1' as result code but all clients hang after the buffer is empty.
Any ideas/pointers?

I think you are confused.
Icecast mountpoints are virtual, they are not created in the filesystem.
You could achieve the same thing by having a script update
