Now, the main problem with this hardware is that LVD UW SCSI HDDs are
hard to find and hella expensive if you find em (and of reduced
capacity).
Any of you know:

ports? The main board of the system ha...

FreeBSD 9.1 stability/robustness?
I need to build up a few servers and routers, and am wondering how
FreeBSD 9.1 is shaping up. Will it be likely to be more stable and
robust than 9.0-RELEASE? Are there issues that will have to wait
until 9.2-RELEASE to be fixed? Opinions welcome.

The problem:
I've installed my R1500 in our data-center and connected it to my

regular power socket, the other one to the R1500 ups.
So far this seems to work, but the values from "upsc&q...

ATI Radeon IGP resolution problems
My NC4010 has the ATI Radeon IGP 350M controller
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11832_na/11832_na.HTML
It works fine in 800x600 but when I change it to 1024x768 the LCD
goes bad. Hard to discribe, it looks like the 800x600 is just
smaller in the upper left with parts clipped and the rest of the
screen repeats part of the reduced sized image.
I am running at 60Mz.

How do I configure NUT?
Hi there.
I need some advise on how to configure NUT, if it is possible to do it.
My UPS, a Compaq R3000 has three individual power segments.
I want NUT to:
When mains is interrupted.
Shut down all serves immediately.
When all servers are completely down, in sequence with time delay shut down two of the power segments.
When batteries is about to be depleted shut down itself and the last power

Please advise on very fast search
Hello,
I try to create some kind of mail backup system. What I need is system
that will store mail for the whole domain, and allow me to restore
messages from/to specified email at that domain.
The scheme is pretty simple: on our main mail server the SMTP server
itself has a rule to send a copy of every message to
'backup at backupserver.host', and the backupserver.host domain is

SAS/SATA DAS
I need to replace a slow HP MSA20 that's a bottleneck right now (We are an HP shop).
HP's only option with 3.5" SATA drives is stuck at SATA I behind a SAS controller.
Dell makes an MD1000 that claims SATA II speeds behind a SAS Perc 5/E (Don't know anything about dell).
Anyone got any real world info they can share? I need 3.5" SATA II at least 12 drives behind SAS,
I am

Re: [R] R for ARM Linux (moved from r-help to r-devel)
...scripts, may be even some of the datasets, and reducing the size
of the base library by moving non core functions out to libraries.
Currently I'm experimenting with the crosscompiler setup on a x86 linux
machine and R-1.2.3. I'm running R on a H3600 iPAQ
http://www.compaq.com/products/quickspecs/10632_na/10632_na.HTML
with 16MB flash and 32MB RAM.
R resides NFS mounted across a serial ppp link on my x86 linux box, but I
will soon upgrade to additional flash memory so that I can put R directly
on the PDA.

HP Proliant DL360 G7
Hello,
Has anyone out there been able to qualify the Proliant DL360 G7 for your Solaris/OI/Nexenta environments? Any pros/cons/gotchas (vs. previous generation HP servers) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

ZFS Appliance as a general-purpose server question
A customer is looking to replace or augment their Sun Thumper
with a ZFS appliance like 7320. However, the Thumper was used
not only as a protocol storage server (home dirs, files, backups
over NFS/CIFS/Rsync), but also as a general-purpose server with
unpredictably-big-data programs running directly on it (such as
corporate databases, Alfresco for intellectual document storage,
etc.) in order to
