remedial stats education
...ourses. I have a basic understanding of probability. I mostly understand descriptive statistics. I feel somewhat lost when it comes to statistical inference. I am good at self-study. I happily spend 12 hours a day reading dry technical manuals. About the research: I have designed a web-based questionaire. http://shared.openheartlogic.org My collaborator (equally stats inept) is working on a similar web-based questionaire http://ruminate.openheartlogic.org Ultimately, we want to publish in a peer-reviewed journal such as Emotion & Cognition or, at least, get a paper accepted at the annual Cog...

How should I organize data to compare differences in matched pairs?
I'm just learning how to use R right now, so I'm not sure what the most efficient way to organize these data is. I had subjects perform the same task twice with slight changes between the rounds. I want to analyze differences between the rounds. All of the subjects also answered a questionnaire. Putting all of one subject's information on one row seems sloppy. I was thinking about

Help with tables
Hello, I'm new using R and developing tables. I have a problem in developing a table. In a questionaire I made I ask this question "Please tell me the first three sympthoms caused by Respiratory tract infection you've caught this year", then the people answer three sympthoms, the first mention (Top of mind) is saved in a variable called "P2_A", the second mention in a variabl...

how to sort the levels of a table
...21 is reference/goldstandard) who diagnosed 42 videos (vertically from 1 to 42). See dump of R-object "input" below in case you are interested in the original data. Each observation is a series of 1 and 0 (different length!) which was obtained by concatenating answers of a multiple choice questionaire. I created a confusion matrix (table) displaying the observations of the 20 observers (nr. 1 to 20) versus the reference (nr. 21) via the following code: ## observations of the reference obsValues<-factor(unlist(input[,-c(1,ncol(input))])) ## observations of the observers refValues<-factor...

Recommendation for a Good Vulnerability Scanning Service?
Hi, Can someone recommend a good vulnerability scanning service? I just need the minimum for PCI compliance (it's a sort of credit card processing certification). I got a free scan from https://www.hackerguardian.com/ and their scan reported a number of "Fail" results. I haven't checked them all yet but most seem to be things for which fixes were backported looong ago by The

rails adoption questions
For my thesis I''m constructing a questionnaire and I would like to know your opinion about it and perhaps additional questions. The research will focus on the adoption factors and demographic characteristics of companies using rails. So if you happen to know good questions, or think they''re inappropriate, let me know. I''ll start off: Organizational 1. What is your

I found the hint for this usage in "Notes on the use of R for psychology experiments and questionaires" (Jonathan Baron, 2003).cs and speaker are within-subjects factors. rati is the dependent variable: ratings done by subjects. sub are the subject-codes (between-subjects factor). SpaeVP is sorted because in the preprocessing I needed to recoded data of each subject and did: >testfac <-...
