expm()
Can the expm function be used to calculate the exponential of a matrix where
the matrix is multiplied by a vector in a data frame?
For example
for (i in 1:length(y)){
expmN<-expm(Q*y[i])
Q<-Matrix(c(1, 2, 3, 4), 2, 2)
return(expmN)
}
Sorry I am new to R and I have been finding it difficult to get information
on calculating Matrix exponentials in R.
Many thanks in

Mixed models
Hello Folks,
I'm after some help regarding mixed models.
Basically I have sampled a number of different animals at 10 independent sites and am trying to create a mixed model to account for the variation between sites my current model looks like this:
mm<-glmm.admb(Hep~Sex+Mass, random=~Mouse, group=Location, data=alan, family="binomial", link="logit")
I numbered each

Getting started
Hi,)
I am just getting started with R but have hit an early snag. I am working through Crawley (2008) The R Book and on page 6, 'Significance Stars', I am trying to enter the commands given. However, 'Gain.txt' does not seem to have been downloaded when I downloaded the R programme.
I have searched for it in case it put it somewhere other than 'temp' but I cannot find it.

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list.
I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without
modifications.
How did I try it?
Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock )
Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a
rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee
prep-out.log
The build failed at the end:

help(arima) return value typo?
in ?arima (R-1.9.1), the return value component 'convergence' should be
'code'?
(it's a pity there is no reliable way to check return value documentation
consistency with the code, or is there?)

expm() within the Matrix package
Hi
Could anybody give me a bit of advice on some code I'm having trouble with?
I've been trying to calculate the loglikelihood of a function iterated over
a data of time values and I seem to be experiencing difficulty when I use
the function expm(). Here's an example of what I am trying to do
y<-c(5,10) #vector of 2 survival times
p<-Matrix(c(1,0),1,2) #1x2 matrix

All subsets regression
Hey folks,
I'm trying to do all subsets on a zero-inflated poisson regression. I'm aware of the leaps and regsubsets functions but I don't know if they work for ZIP regressions or how the syntax fits in for them. Can anyone help?
The model syntax is:
> zip.zc <- zicounts(resp=Scars~.,x=~Location + Lar + Mass + Lac + Lar:Mass + Location:Mass, data = alan2,

Joint maximum likelihood estimation for ordinal data
Dear R users
>From what I understand, the joint maximum likelihood procedure for Rasch
(availabe in the package MiscPsycho) in R can only be used on binary data.
I was wondering if the code is currently being adapted for application to
ordinal data? I'm trying to replicate results obtained from Winsteps in R.
Best wishes

suggestion for ARMAacf()
hi,
in 1.9.1, the return value from ARMAacf(pacf=TRUE) is not named by lags,
contrary to ?ARMAacf. the simple fix is to move names(Acf) <-
down after if(pacf), with an appropriate starting lag as pacf=TRUE appears
to start at lag 1 (whereas pacf=FALSE starts at lag 0).
for consistency, one could argue to append 1 for lag 0 for pacf=TRUE
(or start pacf=F at lag 1). however, given the
