Stop words, fields, StandardAnalyzer quagmire
Hello, I''m using: Ruby 1.8.6, Rails 1.2.3, ferret 0.11.4, acts_as_ferret from svn stable. I''ve had quite a day wrestling with trying to remove the use of stopwords. The problem was that when searching for words like "no" or "the", no results were found. I found a confusing thing behavior that has taken me some time to figure out, and I hope sharing it

OT: systemd Poll
...ritate my customers. Just move on, ISN'T a solution. I deal in solutions. Partially, where possible, I move my customers to system that don't have this viral infection just as I moved them off of windows, where possible. systemd isn't "the death of linux". It is a serious quagmire that needs to be resolved. That can only happen by confronting the issue head on. step one is admitting a problem exists.

[LLVMdev] Using C++'11 language features in LLVM itself
Hello, I have been following this discussion for a while and I think the question we should be asking is: Why do we want to even bother with all these other broken C++ compilers in a first place? Clang is good enough to bootstrap itself on practically any platform I can think of or it can be cross-bootstrapped if needed. I think usage of any language features should be decided based on

binding JAVA, rushing!
Hi, I met a problem when I binding JAVA. 1. download xapian-bindings-0.9.10.tar.gz to my local. 2. unzip binding file. 3. input ./configure --with-java in cygwin. 4 give me error: checking for java... /cygdrive/c/Program Files/Java/jdk1.5.0_11/bin/java checking for javac... /cygdrive/c/Program Files/Java/jdk1.5.0_11/bin/javac checking for jar... /cygdrive/c/Program Files/Java/jdk1.5.0_11/bin/jar

Engine's Application Controller
Hi, I''ve been using rails 3 engines and (at least in my experience) the engine''s application controller is overidden by the app''s application controller. Wouldn''t it be better if the app would just load on top of the engine? I mean that if an engine''s application controller has methods or anything else that does not collide with the stuff defined

multiple instances? Updated
...ILL not been explained as to it's actual function and WHY it's called as such despite the fact it has NOTHING at all to do with shoutcast. And where are these multiple stream configs I've asked repeated for? (or any help in plain english in that direction?). My current status in this quagmire is that I HAVE TO host 2 streams on TWO machines because NO ONE has bothered to answer the question I asked (see the subject line for that little detail) I want to be able to put this mess behind me ONE AND FOR ALL, without more excessive stress from kids that think it's funny to troll people...

I'm back
Hi all, Sorry for being so quite on this list for the last 6 weeks or so. I got suck in a bit of a quagmire refactoring the tests so they can be run when building out-of-tree. I actually had two aborted attempts getting this working before coming to the solution I have now. In the end I pushed 10 commits including: * The separate 'check' (which worked out-of-tree) and 'fullcheck' (whi...

Variance-covariance matrix for beta hat and b hat from lme
Dear all, Given a LME model (following the notation of Pinheiro and Bates 2000) y_i = X_i*beta + Z_i*b_i + e_i, is it possible to extract the variance-covariance matrix for the estimated beta_i hat and b_i hat from the lme fitted object? The reason for needing this is because I want to have interval prediction on the predicted values (at level = 0:1). The "predict.lme" seems to

no priority on the console?
As per my previous message, I've spent about 3 months trying to debug a problem that was causing all disk I/O to go very slowly. One of the things which made this nearly impossible to diagnose was the absolute lack of priority given to the console. Logging in on the console would take 12-15 minutes. Hitting enter on the console would usually take between 3 and 5 minutes. This

Samba 4.4 userParameters problems
Hi, I recently upgraded 4.1.8 installation to 4.4.2. As per documentation I ran samba-tool dbcheck. It reported some problems with userParameters: ERROR: wrongly formatted userParameters on CN=,OU=Users,OU=MyBusiness,DC=,DC=local, should not be psudo-UTF8 encoded. I ran --fix as I read in some discussion that this was actually tested. The problem after upgrade is, that it is no longer possible
