...es me, hooked into a Fosgate Tate II SQ decoder which is likewise hooked into two X10-D buffers then finally into a Marantz receiver. The whole system sounds absolutely wonderful on SQ records, and on non-SQ records the Tate II decoder has a "wide stereo" mode which makes better use of a quadraphonic setup using a stereo source than I'd ever heard before. He also clued me in on the whole quadraphile SQ vs. CD-4 debate which was discussed here briefly. At any rate, he expressed interest in digitally mastering some of his LPs by first running them through his Fosgate Tate II and the X10-D...

...ls, are there pairs of channels which should be considered as a stereo pairs or do you want to place these stereo pairs as separate streams within a single ogg container? What about multi channel surround sound (there are a number of different formats like 5.1 and 7.1) or quadraphonic? How are you going to specify which channel is which. Being able to encode this stuff easily is **vital**. g) With things like surround sound, are you going to allow 24 bit audio for the main stereo pair and 16 bits for the side channels? This might best be achieved using...

Arc wrote: > However, support for (ie) 48-bit-float should not have to be created, Where are you going to find a 48 bit float? Is there an IEEE standard for that? I know some floating point DSP chips use a 48 bit float internally, but if there is more than one they are unlikely to be compatible and they certainly cannot be read by standard CPUs without having pull each value apart into

opus_multistream_encode_float not working in libopus 1.1
...y found that opus_multistream_encode_float is returning -1 (OPUS_BAD_ARG) with the libopus 1.1 build but works just fine with the libopus 1.0.1 and libopus 1.1-beta builds. I tried using opus_multistream_encoder_create and opus_multistream_surround_encoder_create. Tried with coupled and uncoupled quadraphonic and uncoupled stereo encodes. I'm dynamically loading the libopus libraries from the pre-compiled opusfile-0.5-win32 package. Have there been changes to the meaning or handling of the parameters for either of the mentioned functions?

opus_multistream_encode_float not working in libopus 1.1
Hi, I just checked in a fix for the bug you reported. Let me know if it works. ...requires 3 bits to encode, which when combined with the MSB/LSB flag bit, leaves a nibble for extended types or channel association. Now - channel association/scheme, or whatever a more appropriate name would be.. this has got to be a lookup table, too. I'm thinking: 0 Mono 1 Stereo 2 Quadraphonic 3 Ambisonic 4 Dolby 5.1 5 Dolby 6.1 (used in Dolby Digital EX) 6 Dolby 7.1 7 Extended This is 3 bits, leaving one bit free for an extra flag, if needed, for one other bit of configuration which may be needed. We could also extend this to 4 bits, leaving many of them "Extended"...

[PATCH 0/1] opusenc support for WavPack input
This patch to opus-tools adds optional support to WavPack lossless format as input to opusenc. Like support to FLAC, it depends on an external library, libwavpack, and may be disabled on configure. Updated Vorbis-RTP Internet Draft
...can encode high-quality CD and DAT rate stereo at below 48k bits/sec without resampling to a lower rate. Vorbis is also intended for lower and higher sample rates (from 8kHz telephony to 192kHz digital masters) and a range of channel representations (monaural, polyphonic, stereo, quadraphonic, 5.1, ambisonic, or up to 255 discrete channels). Vorbis encoded audio is generally encapsulated within an Ogg format bitstream [1], which provides framing and synchronization. For the purposes of RTP transport, this layer is unnecessary, and so raw Vorbis packets are used in...
