[PATCH v10 18/19] pvqspinlock, x86: Enable PV qspinlock PV for KVM
This patch adds the necessary KVM specific code to allow KVM to support the CPU halting and kicking operations needed by the queue spinlock PV code. Two KVM guests of 20 CPU cores (2 nodes) were created for performance testing in one of the following three configurations: 1) Only 1 VM is active 2) Both VMs are active and they share the same 20 physical CPUs (200% overcommit) 3) Both VMs are

[PATCH v2 4/6] pv-qspinlock: powerpc support pv-qspinlock
As we need let pv-qspinlock-kernel run on all environment which might have no powervm, we should runtime choose which qspinlock version to use. The default pv-qspinlock use native version. pv_lock initialization should be done in bootstage with irq disabled. And if possible, restore pv_lock_ops callbacks to pv version. [PATCH v9 0/6] Implement qspinlock/pv-qspinlock on ppc
Hi All, this is the fairlock patchset. You can apply them and build successfully. patches are based on linux-next qspinlock can avoid waiter starved issue. It has about the same speed in single-thread and it can be much faster in high contention situations especially when the spinlock is embedded within the data structure to be protected. v8 -> v9: mv qspinlocm config entry to

[PATCH v2 0/2] guard virt_spin_lock() with a static key
With virt_spin_lock() being guarded by a static key the bare metal case can be optimized by patching the call away completely. In case a kernel running as a guest it can decide whether to use paravitualized spinlocks, the current fallback to the unfair test-and-set scheme, or to mimic the bare metal behavior. V2: - use static key instead of making virt_spin_lock() a pvops function Juergen Gross
