Variable substitution in grep pattern
Hi everibody. I'm working with a dataframe with many character vector in which each observation is made of one or more unique values. Example: > Licenza[56:58] [1] BSD License, GNU Library or Lesser General Public License (LGPL) [2] Qt Public License (QPL) [3] GNU General Public License (GPL) 66 Levels: ... Zope Public License As you can see, the observation can have one or more Licenses associated with them. I want to build a vector with the number of times every element (e.g. "BSD License") occurs in the vector, by itself or in associa...

net command in sernet -samba 3.4 for RHEL
After upgrading a test machine to Sernet's 3.4 package, it looks like the "net" command is gone. This was definitely there in the redhat-supplied 3.0 build and I thought it was there in sernet's 3.3 build too. I installed all the rpm's - samba3-client, samba3-utils, samba3-cifsmount.... am I missing something? -- Adam Cohen / IT Manager Energy Biosciences Institute /

...wman - makes an ugly patch, which makes for licensing problems [2] Tread lightly: - generated .bc is incompatible with llc due to runtime-specific GC codegen Gordon [1] Yes, this is a downside. :) Possibly the dominant one, since this is a weekend project. [2] ocaml is licensed under the QPL [Trolltech/KDE], which has an onerous distribution clause which prohibits forks. My current work leaves the existing code generator in place, touching only a few files to integrate LLVM code generation as a runtime option; this improves the possibility that a patch would be accepted, and...

Given that there is no real client for the LLVM GC hooks, you are free to break or redesign what we already have: go crazy! :) > [2] ocaml is licensed under the QPL [Trolltech/KDE], which has an onerous > distribution clause which prohibits forks. ...community. "Still less j> syllables than Windows2000." (sigh) Except that a typical Linux is less than 50% GNU (FSF) software, and less than 60% GPL (worse if you measure by the byte), so to be fair and precise, we would have to call it (take a deep breath now ...) GNU/BSD/ASL/PD/QPL/MPL/SCL/NCL/DCL/IBMPL/JOSL/NOSL/SCL/NGPL/PL/MCVWL/Linux and then we get into the argument of who's name goes in what order and which ones we leave out for brevity. Where it does get termed GNU/Linux, as with Debian, an immediate pressure arises to make it _exclusively_ GNU/Linux and prevent t...

Is there a 0.0.7a patch for redhat 2.2.19 errata?
...patches linux-2.2.17-ext3.patch linux-2.2.17-kdb+ext3.patch Is there somewhere a 0.0.7a version of the above that will patch cleanly in the errata kernel (considering all the other patches that get applied before ext3)? I read about ftp://ftp.clusterfilesystem.com/pub/ext3 but when I do $ rpm -qpl ftp://ftp.clusterfilesystem.com/pub/ext3/old/linux-ext3-2.2..19ext3_0.0.7a-2.src.rpm open of ftp://ftp.clusterfilesystem.com/pub/ext3/old/linux-ext3-2.2.19ext3_0.0.7 a-2.src.rpm failed: Failed to establish data connection to server $ Thanks -- giulioo@pobox.com

Installed Kernal (default)
Is there a description or statement that describes the stock kernal in CentOS, and would give all the various modules it is compiled with? As with BSD, I assume there are things in the kernal that are mandatory, and then there are things that are optional or included so as to catch most everything one could have w/r/t hardware. That being the case, as with FreeBSD, removing those unneded

4.6 update overwrote my /usr/lib/python2.3/site.py file
We had some custom additions to our site.py file for a third party application. 'yum update' to 4.6 overwrote the file with no backup or warning. Not hard to repair, but it did have me worried there for a few minutes when the application failed to start. Is this a python issue, an upstream issue or a CentOS issue? Can something be done about it going forward? Jeff

[Flac-users] Matroska open source A/V container format officially released

Here the main features of matroska : - opensource, open standard, GPL and QPL licensed main library - supports arbitrary file sizes, ideal for PCM audio and prepared for HDTV - allows arbitrary number of audio, video and subtitles streams in one file - attempting to support every existing audio and video codec under the sun - extensible by using EBML as underlying framework,...
