Samba + Quickbooks file problems
I updated samba to samba-2.0.7-4 (RedHat RPM). That didn't help.
I changed the file ownership to user.group from user.user. That didn't help.
I changed the file permissions to -rwxrwxr-- as you had suggested, and then
it worked.
(QuickBooks 99 needs *both* the file permissions set as noted *and* the
ownership also.)
However, when everyone closes QuickBooks the QBI file is deleted, and

Very strange ACL issue
Hello,
I upgraded from Samba 3.0.2 to 3.0.4 on my Redhat Enterprise system and am
now seeing something very strange with POSIX ACL?s. We have several shared
directories setup with per-directory group permissions (In other words each
directory has its own group in active directory). This way if we want to
give a user access to a directory we just add them to the group. After
upgrading too 3.0.4

Two major issues with Mac OS X clients
Hello,
I am having to major issues with Mac clients on our samba server. One
has to do with how the Mac vs. the PC locks files and the other has to do
with a very slow connection to one of our larger shares.
1.) File locking issue:
I am having a strange problem occur with shared excel and word files being
opened by multiple users. The problem appears to be a result of a Mac

Debian Sarge (testing), Samba 3.0 RC4 and Quickbooks
Debian and Samba Teams:
I'm having a really weird problem with Samba 3.0Beta2+RC4 on my Debian
Sarge (testing) system with Quickbooks Pro 2002 multi-user
version.
The version of my question is: Does anybody know what the proper global,
share, and permissions settings should be to support multi-user Quickbooks
on a Samba share?
The Long Version:
The Quickbooks data-file resides on it's

Has anyone seen this error? is it a bug? if not then what am I doing
wrong with the compile?
I downloaded the lastest CVS, applied the transgaming patch, it built
fine and installed fine.

oplocks, QuickBooks (Samba 3)
Hi there,
Can somebody please explain to me why Samba 3 requires 'oplocks = no' on
shares for programs like Quickbooks to operate properly with multiple
users, where Samba 2 didn't?
Without this option, Quickbooks will complain about file corruption when
a second user tries to open a file.
This option, however, makes the particular share that the option is
present in _very_ slow

smbd -D processes spawn out of control
All,
I'm running the latest stable version of SerNet-Samba on a Debian Sarge
box (I switched from the traditional Samba package for certain reasons
which I won't delve into here), but I've come across a serious issue.
Every day, the Samba processes become so numerous that the server begins
acting really flaky. That is to say, there are so many smbd -D
processes that the server

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list.
I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without
modifications.
How did I try it?
Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock )
Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a
rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee
prep-out.log
The build failed at the end:
