Adit Asterisk Cabling Connundrum.
I am hoping to replace my Nortel 8x24 switch with Asterisk. Right now my cabling comes from my outside phone box into my office and into a punchdown block and leaves the punchdown block as an amphenol connector which currently plugs into the Nortel swicth. A second amphenol connector them plugs into the switch and extends to another punchdown block that I believe carries the lines throughout the office to Cat 5 plug in which the individual pho...

Hard Ground (On Ring)
...ed that, after rain storms, the static would get worse, it was surely a problem of Verizon's. Verizon sent a field rep out today and he told our secretary (I was busy) that there was a hard ground on the Ring portion of the line. Looking at the setup we have the NID connected directly to a 66 Punchdown block which then spans out to an amphenol 50 connector that connects to the Adtran. Could the Adtran be making a hardground anywhere? Has anyone seen/heard of this issue before? Unfortuantely, my background is computers and not electrical, so I am lost... Any help would be greatly appreciated,...

Low RX volume and half duplex/"walkie-talkie" on AEX-804E
...calls are hit-or-miss, calls to a Hawaiian (how's that for "Long Distance" from Ohio) 1004 Hz test number are fine - in fact, subjectively, borderline too loud which makes no sense since before going live with Asterisk, we had a legacy Panasonic KSU/PBX on the same lines - on the same punchdown blocks - and no one ever complained about these issues. If I turn off the echo canceller there's a modest (may even just be psychological) improvement in line gain, but the echo is so horrendous (actually the echo sounds louder than the inbound call volume) as to make things unusable. Any ide...

Can I get that jack in every corner? c. where can I find help for configuring it? d. what kind of backup does it have? Does it need to be reconfigured after a power outage? HDLC errors
I'm running Asterisk 1.2.26.1 svn rev 79171 on Trixbox 2.2. libpri 1.2.7 and zaptel 1.2.22.1. The hardware is a HP dl360 single cpu with a TE220B. The system load is below 0.10. I moved the server into production, with one PRI, on Friday. On that day we handled a couple thousand calls and I only saw one HDLC abort message. On Saturday half the calls and two abort messages an hour

ADIT 600 "Dynamic Impedance matching"
Has anyone ever heard of this so called Dynamic Impedance matching on the ADIT 600? I called their support and they've never heard of it. We are of course having echo problems are on the far end due to digital/analog conversion on the local end using a channel bank. We have purchased an ADIT 600 and yes the complaints are "far less" however we're still getting them. While I have

Channels ID / Soft Hang Up
...that will usually have 2 or 4 positions for line cards and 2 or 4 jacks marked "CPE1" etc.... usually at the bottom. Usually also you can look through the window at the top and see various lights. What is between the smartjack and your T1 card? What sort and length of cable? Any splices? Punchdown or patch panels? Also I'm not sure if Trixbox has this but ssh in and see if there is an application called zttool. What are the statistics it is providing? ------------------------------ Message: 20 Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2008 18:54:47 -0600 From: KodaK <sakodak at gmail.com> Subject: [a...
