extracting characters from a string
Dear All,
I have a data frame of vectors of publication names such as 'pub':
pub1 <- c('Brown DK, Santos R, Rome DF, Don Juan X')
pub2 <- c('Benigni D')
pub3 <- c('Arstra SD, Van den Hoops DD, lamarque D')
pub <- rbind(pub1, pub2, pub3)
I would like to construct a dataframe with only author's last name and each last name in columns and...

symlinks and different $HOME variables
...that have most of home directory data sync'd, but
I am having trouble keeping symlinks straight.
On the desktop, my data is separate from the $HOME folder... $HOME =
/remote/home/desktop/ and the data is at /data/. Within /data/, I have
several directories that are inter-related... eg, /data/pub1/figs is a link
pointing to /data/imgs/pub1. It makes life easier when I'm writing.
On the laptop, the $HOME directory (/home/laptop/) should be the same as
/data/, with the exception of several large sets of data, videos, etc. The
problem is that when I rsync /data/ to /home/laptop/, the sym...

I have a gentoo 2.6.14 box with 4 nics, LAN/DMZ/PUB1/PUB2
LAN and DMZ have a 1918 /22 each, PUB1 and PUB2 have a /29 each of which 5 ips

Using the mangle table, I give all packets a mark (according to local
policies) in the range 1-10. Using ip rule, i pass marks 1-5 through the pub1
route table, and marks 6-10 through the pub2 rou...

Oh this is bad.... bindaddr and rtp traffic
I have a configuration where RTP traffic is going out interface pub0, and coming back into through pub1.
I have bindaddr=0.0.0.0 in sip.conf, and a netstat -an shows:
udp 0 788 0.0.0.0:5060 0.0.0.0:*
which means that Asterisk is listening on all addresses (on all interfaces?).
Anyway, when the RTP traffic comes back in on interface pub0, Asterisk does nothing with it. A ...

Issues/thoughts re CentOS-4
This is a list of issues for discussion for CentOS-4. Most of it is
based on my experience from building/maintaining CentOS-2 and observing
CentOS-3. I have not seen the CentOS-4 beta yet so I don't know if any
of this is already done. If these have been discussed on IRC then
perhaps someone could produce a shot summary of the outcomes....?
* Just call it CentOS-4 not 4.1 etc. Too
