Problem transfering fsmo roles.
...em with (2) 4.12.8 DC's on Buster with samba from the VanBelle repo.
Due to an error in my apt configuration I currently have 2 4.11.14 DC's running
on Buster.
If I try to transfer the roles from one of the 4.8.12 DC's to one of
the 4.11.14 DC's it fails with the following:
(vdc3 pts2) # samba-tool fsmo transfer --role=infrastructure
ERROR: Transfer of 'infrastructure' role failed: Failed FSMO transfer: NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT
(vdc3 pts2)
If I try to transfer the roles to the other 4.8.12 DC the roles transfers as expected.
Does anyone have any idea why the roles will not...

Well wonder no more!! Simply look it up in the man pages. It is documented
after all!!
Hummm, lets see:
(vcliff pts2) # grep Documentation= /usr/lib/systemd/system/-.slice
Documentation=man:systemd.special(7)

I will let you do the rest of the research yourself. :-)

On Centos 7.5 I suspect he is talking about krb5-libs-1.15.1-19.el7.x86_64
Unfortunately on a Centos 7 machine it gets installed with at system creation
time and cannot be removed without breaking the system.
FWIW,
(vdc2 pts2) # rpm -qf /etc/krb5.conf
krb5-libs-1.15.1-19.el7.x86_64

For giggles I tried to rm it and I get an error when yum tries to rm the
dependencies.
As to the actual problem, my fully updated Centos-7.5 systems are functioning
normally after removing the stupid include line from /etc/krb...

problem with centos.org whois
It looks like someone pooched a domain transfer, and the whois entry
for centos.org is missing its NS records. I've sent an email to the
whois tech contact @redhat, but I'm sending this to the list to hopefully
bring it to someone else's attention, as well.
Hopefully it gets gets out before my mailserver expires its DNS
cache for centos.org.
Expect centos.org to be offline for a bit
