[PATCH] paravirt: remove paravirt ops pmd_update_defer and pte_update_defer
pte_update_defer can be removed as it is always set to the same function as pte_update. So any usage of pte_update_defer() can be replaced by pte_update(). pmd_update_defer is always set to paravirt_nop, so it can just be nuked. [PATCH 2/5] lguest: wire up pte_update/pte_update_defer
Impact: intermittent guest segv/crash fix I've been seeing random guest bad address crashes and segmentation faults: bisect led to 4f98a2fee8 (vmscan: split LRU lists into anon & file sets), but that's a red herring. It turns out that lguest never hooked up the pte_update/pte_update_defer calls, so our ptes were not always in sync. After the vmscan commit, the bug became reproducible; now a fsck in a 64MB guest causes reproducible pagetable corruption. [PATCH 1/4] Pte drop ptep_get_and_clear paravirt op.patch
In shadow mode hypervisors, ptep_get_and_clear achieves the desired purpose of keeping the shadows in sync by issuing a native_get_and_clear, followed by a call to pte_update, which indicates the PTE has been modified. Direct mode hypervisors (Xen) have no need for this anyway, and will trap the update using writable pagetables. This means no hypervisor makes use of ptep_get_and_clear; there is no reason to have it in the paravirt-ops structure. Change confusing t...

[PATCH 9/9] 00mme update pte hook.patch
Add a pte_update_hook which notifies about pte changes that have been made without using the set_pte / clear_pte interfaces. This allows shadow mode hypervisors which do not trap on page table access to maintain synchronized shadows. It also turns out, there was one pte update in PAE mode that wasn't using...

[PATCH 0/7] (Re-)introducing pvops for x86_64 - Real pvops work part
Hey folks, This is the part-of-pvops-implementation-that-is-not-exactly-a-merge. Neat, uh? This is the majority of the work. The first patch in the series does not really belong here. It was already sent to lkml separetedly before, but I'm including it again, for a very simple reason: Try to test the paravirt patches without it, and you'll fail miserably ;-) (and it was not yet

[PATCH 0/25 -v2] paravirt_ops for x86_64, second round
Here is an slightly updated version of the paravirt_ops patch. If your comments and criticism were welcome before, now it's even more! There are some issues that are _not_ addressed in this revision, and here are the causes: * split debugreg into multiple functions, suggested by Andi: - Me and jsfg agree that introducing more pvops (specially 14!) is not worthwhile. Hey folks, Here's a new spin of the pvops64 patch series. We didn't get that many comments from the last time, so it should be probably almost ready to get in. Heya! >From the last version, the most notable changes are: * consolidation of system.h, merging jeremy's comments about ordering concerns * consolidation of smp functions that goes through smp_ops.
