POSIXlt and trunc
...lements? This worries me that something is off with my use of trunc. Is trunc not suppose to be vectorized with POSIXlt? If not, then how should I truncate a bunch of POSIXlt objects? I'm using R 2.11.1 with linux. Unable to log out normally
I've posted this question to the Gnome users list, but so far no luck, so I thought I'd mention this here. A little while ago, I noticed that I was no longer able to log out from my GDM. I'm running the default GDM (2.16) that comes with CentOS, and this problem started up right about the same time that I updated to the 53.1.4 kernel (from the 8.1.15 version). As I've posted

Outlook and roaming profiles?
...their mail through Outlook. This is the crucial point. AFAIK, there is no way to use Outlook with roaming profiles. A quick search on the Microsoft website indicates that I would need an Exchange server to implement roaming profiles+mail. My question is - can it be done without Exchange (ie using PST files)? My understanding is that the size of the PST files prohibits roaming profiles. FWIW, my mail configuration is IMAP based, not POP-based, so it _might_ make the PST files smaller, though I'm not sure. Thanks.

Destination file a lot larger then source (real size)
I have a script that syncs my backups to an NFS mount every day The script works fine, without any errors, but there is a problem when it comes to some large files Let's take my pst file (8.9 gig) as an example Source: du -hs mypst.pst 8.9G mypst.pst ls -alh mypst.pst -rw-rw---- 1 me me 8.9G Jan 25 17:07 mypst.pst That seems OK Let's do that on the destination: du -hs mypst.pst 17G mypst.pst ls -alh mypst.pst -rw-rw---- 1 root root 8.9G Jan 25 17:07 mypst.pst...

AW: Outlook 2002 and roaming profiles
Hello, This is the way for the normal .pst file where outlook stores ist information about the normal folders. I had moved this pst to my homedrive and it works fine. The problem is my IMAP account. When you create an imap account in outlook it creates another pst file in the normal path. This file is called machinename0000006.pst e.g. If y...

accessing outlook pst files w/ samba
...ng their original windows environments, including Outlook clients. I thought I had all my issues covered, and suddenly I'm facing a show stopper. it turns out that a lot of my users "documentation" has been stored on "public folders" on the former exchange server, in "pst" format. The clients are all Outlook clients. I did some investigation on pst files on a samba share. If I move the "pst" files to a linux smb share, then the pst file can be accessed *BUT* only by one user at a time. I am told that in the windows exchange environment, multiple us...

tzone and DST
I'm reading in ~3 years worth of data that includes hourly timestamps. Presumably to avoid DST confusion, all the data is in PST time zone -- no discontinuities in the spring or fall. The data comes in a csv file, which I'm reading with myvariable <- read.csv("my_data_file.csv",header=FALSE, col.names=c("timedate","values"),colClasses=c("POSIXct","numeric")) The tim...

https://ctan.org/tex-archive/graphics/pstricks/contrib/pst-barcode/
Hi, https://ctan.org/tex-archive/graphics/pstricks/contrib/pst-barcode/ says that pst-barcode is included in texlive. I installed texlive, and it can?t find pst-barcode.sty. Is that a bug in the packaging Centos does, or is texlive in Centos some derelict version?

Fwd: RE: Outlook.pst corrupt (Rashkae)
My problem is not the the restore or re-creataion of outlook.pst but is to understand why outlook.pst is corrupted when I open OUTLOOK-2000 or 98 ecc. I have this problem only when I use samba (2.2.5) on HP-UX 11. In other company I have server linux (RH 7.3) with samba and 20 PC that have all your files and mail-files (outlook ecc.) saved in share-directo...

FW: Outlook .pst on a samba share; do or don't?
I'm running a new (6 months old) fast server, with an ultra-scsi RAID array . . . some of my workstations, however, are getting elderly: some are 5 year old 350Mhz machines, and my users are finding it faster to put their .pst files on their Samba-shared Linux home directories. (50 users, .pst files from 100mb to 1.5Gb). (yes, yes, I know, 1.5GB is WAY too big for a .pst file; its a constant fight to get them to archive old stuff). An added advantange, if you run WIN2K on your workstations, is that staff can login to d...

Does strptime(...,tz="GMT") do anything?
Hi All In trying to correlate some tide gauge data I need to deal with varying timezones. From the documentation on strptime, it seemed that the tz variable might have some effect on the conversion, but I'm not seeing an effect. > strptime("20061201 1:02 PST",format="%Y%m%d %H:%M",tz="PST")+0 [1] "2006-12-01 01:02:00 EST" > strptime("20061201 1:02 PST",format="%Y%m%d %H:%M",tz="")+0 [1] "2006-12-01 01:02:00 EST" > strptime("20061201 1:02 PST",format="%Y%m%d...

Problem(?) in strptime()
I think the following examples illustrate the crux of the matter (version and OS info are below). The problem has to do with the transition from standard time to daylight savings time. My timezone, US/Pacific, has two parts: standard time (PST) 8 hours behind GMT and daylight savings time (PDT) 7 hours behind GMT. The transition takes place this year on 7 April at 02:00, when 02:00 is re-labeled 03:00. ## April 6, 01:30 and 02:30 > ISOdatetime(2002, 4, 6, 1:2, 30, 0,tz='GMT') [1] "2002-04-05 17:30:00 PST" "2...
