any plans on getting psexec / cmdat equivalent to Samba?
Hello !
If anybody want`s to implement the psexec unix port or samba equivalent,
maybe taking a look at xCmd from Zoltan Csizmadia at
http://www.codeguru.com/Cpp/I-N/network/remoteinvocation/article.php/c5433/
may help a LOT and is a very good example. (This one seems to work similar
like psexec - but it is available with sourcecode!)
I don`t...

psexec unix equivalent
Hello!
I don`t know if there is a port of psexec for unix yet (haven`t followed the list for some time) - but since it has been discussed on this list several times and i didn`t find any news about the current state of the "psexec unix port"- i`d like to tell that i found a psexec equivalent by chance - WITH SOURCECODE INCLUDED !

psexec from sysinternals - did anyone run it under wine?
psexec util (from sysinternals) is a tool which allows to execute
commands on a remote Windows machine.
A command like that:
psexec.exe \\192.168.1.147 -u Administrator -p password C:\test.bat
would run C:\test.bat as administrator on a Windows workstation with IP
address 192.168.1.147.
Quite cool,...

any plans on getting psexec / cmdat equivalent to Samba?
Windows admins can make their work easier with a tool like psexec.
It allows to execute commands remotely, without the need to install
anything on the target machine. All that is needed is username/password
of course.
Unfortunately, psexec command only runs on Windows.
The usage is as follows (we start notepad interactively with -i to show
that something ha...

Oddness with SMB, PsExec, Win 7, etc...
Hi,
I've got a simple PHP script which is using psexec from sysinternals to
execute commands on a remote machine (which uses SMB under the hood). If I
run it from DOS it works fine. If I run the same script via apache it hangs.
Fired up Wireshark and had a look at what was going on. In the working
version the treeconnect calls go to the IPC$ and then t...

Samba equiv for OS/2 NET ADMIN or NT's RCMD / PSEXEC?
Is there an equivalent solution for NET ADMIN / RCMD / PSEXEC within Samba allowing Samba servers to start / run programs on Windows clients? Maybe it is one of the RPC or RAP commands?

Mongrel as Windows service with normal privileges

very quickly, maybe 1 second max).
This happens only if the user the service is configured to run as does
not belong to the "Administrators" group, otherwise it works fine.
I have read a couple of threads about this subject, so this is what I
have already tried:
(With psexec -l cmd.exe:)
1. mongrel_rails start -e development -a 127.0.0.1 -p 3000
===> WORKS
2. mongrel_service console single -e development -a 127.0.0.1 -p 3000
===> WORKS
(Interactively logged in as the service user:)

Kacper way of doing things is completly correct (at least from
authentication point of view). SYSTEM account on Windows uses the
machine account for authentication. So for example, using psexec [1],
you can try (on an elevated command prompt):
psexec -s -i cmd.exe
Check that you are local system
whoami
then you connect to a share (sysvol is a good choice here since "domain
computers" has access)
net use F: \\domain.lan\sysvol
Then on your DC you can check which acc...

account. LocalSystem has access to machine kerberos credentials, so for
accessing a share on the file server, you'll need to add read rights for
"domain computers" group. You can check that your computer account can
connect to a share by login in as LocalSystem using psexec:
psexec -i -s cmd
net use F: \\server\sharename
dir f:
Any way, you'd be better at using a software deployment solution for
that task (GPO are really not good at that, even Microsoft would advise
you to use ConfigMgr/SCCM). I'm partial on that point as I'm one of the

Ok based on the MS link.
Have you enabled under Computer Configuration in the navigation tree on the left side, navigate to Administrative Templates\System\Logon
Enable "Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon"
If not done yet.

Problems getting mongrel service working
Hello list!
I have mongrel service 0.1.0 working on my current production machine.
Upgrading to a new server and also moving to mongrel service 0.3.1
has not worked yet. I am hoping someone will have an idea as to why.
I have mongrel installed properly (I think):
C:\rails\igacc>gem list --local

machine accounts question
...with a domain
controller in domain OURDOMAIN due to the following:
There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request.
Also: we see that using the machine account to access our fileservers
does not work (our GPO shutdown scripts do this). Can be visualised like
this:
- psexec -i -s cmd.exe
(this will open a new cmd window, supposedly running under the system's
machine account, in which we type:)
- net use f: \\files.samba.domain.com\ninite
On regular systems, that drive mapping will work, without asking for
credentials, because it will use the machine account cre...

Patching XP clients on Samba PDC
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hello,
Does anyone have a good suggestion for patching XP clients on a Samba
PDC domain? I've tried using autoit and sysinternal's psexec to write
a script to do this but this doesn't work well because the computer
has to be active and our machines lock the machine if it's not active
in 15 minutes.
I hate having to log onto every machine every time another ms patch is
released. Any suggestions or thoughts on the matter would...

Is this read permission for the domain computer I need to configure in the
deploy software GPO, sharing folder or both?
psexec -i -s cmd

At first I was able to execute the commands above. At first I had to run a
cmd with adm privileges, because in the normal user it was denied access.
After that the mapping worked and I got the access in F:
