Check out Proxmox VE... can CentOS improve on this?
Greetings, I'm a big OpenVZ fanboy. I've sent a few emails on this list that proves that... and I'm sure I've annoyed some people... but be that as it may... I would like to draw everyone on this list's attention to Proxmox VE. What is Proxmox VE? Here's a review from the end of June: ProxMox: The high-performance virtualization server for the rest of us http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=9181 It is a "bare-metal" Linux distribution based on Debian that has been stripped down to a minimum...

How to override $::operatingsystem fact

Tinc with Proxmox node
Hello, I am testing Tinc and I successfully created a link between 2 nodes. I have some doubts about subnet behaviour. This is my scenario: Switch: LAN IP 10.100.10.100 Connected to WAN and Proxmox node Proxmox node: bridge interface with public IP , connected to switch LXC with public IP, assigned to bridge I create a Tinc VPN between Home host and Proxmox on net 10.100.10.0 Home host 10.100.10.1 Proxmox 10.100.10.2 I added a local IP 10.100.10.3 (assigned to main bridge) to LXC. Home an...

Alternative to Proxmox
----- "Bruce B" <bruceb444 at gmail.com> wrote: > Hi Everyone, > Is there other comparable products to Proxmox to be used for Asterisk instances? Ease of use, web interface, and Asterisk/CentOS support would be ideal. There is OpenNode: http://opennode.activesys.org/ I've heard good things thus far but have not had time nor need to test it myself. --Tim -------------- next par...

Urgent :) Procedure for replacing Gluster Node on 3.8.12
Status: We have a 3 node gluster cluster (proxmox based) - gluster 3.8.12 - Replica 3 - VM Hosting Only - Sharded Storage Or I should say we *had* a 3 node cluster, one node died today. Possibly I can recover it, in whcih case no issues, we just let it heal itself. For now its running happily on 2 nodes with no data loss - gluster for teh win! B...

Proxmox to libvirt conversion?
Hello all. I'm wondering if anyone on this list has come across the need to convert a Proxmox VM to a libvirt VM. Given that they use the same underlying technology (qemu/KVM), I'm pretty sure it's possible and just a matter of hashing out the differences in configuration (i.e. creating the necessary libvirt xml for the Proxmox disk), but figured I'd ask here first in c...

Virtualization

Proxmox VE is based on Debian. What does this have to do with CentOS? As it makes use of KVM you can run CentOS on top of it as a virtualization guest. Alexander

Installing Asterisk from repository works great without the need to install Dahdi on Host Node of Proxmox - But trying to install from source fails. Why?
Hi everyone, I just lunched a CentOS VM in Proxmox and used the Digium repository to install Asterisk using "yum install asterisk16"...and it works great. Runs and it seems to have installed ztdummy as well without the need to touch the host node. But when I try to compile Dahdi from source on the same VM to install Asterisk from source I...

poor rsync performance with specific Linux kernel version?
Hi all I am new to this list but a happy rsync user for quite some time. Thanks for this great tool. We are experiencing very slow rsync performance when using it as a backup tool for our server virtualisation "Proxmox VE" (http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Main_Page). I have searched for our issue and posted at the Proxmox forums ( http://forum.proxmox.com/threads/6175-rsync-%28host%29-performance-issues-with-kernel-2.6.32-on-Supermicro-platform) but no results so I hope to ask th...

Sun Microsystems Quad gigabit ethernet nic compatibility
Hello I am thinking of buying this card to and wanted to know if this NIC is supported. The card is a Sun Microsystems PCI-X Quad-Port Gigabit Ethernet Adapter QGEXPCI 501-6738-10. Can't find any info on how well the card plays with centos and also proxmox ve (if any of you use that distro ) If things don't seem to work I may bite the bullet and buy an Intel card thanks Rafeal Stewart
