Hello, I use the function 'aggregate' a lot. One small annoyance is that it is necessary to name the factors in the 'by' list to get the names in the resulting data.frame (else, they appear as Group.1, Group.2...etc). I am not sure a previous e-mail reached the list (no mail aknowledgement from R-boundle etc.). The question was how to write polygon or segment coordinates into a shapefile set or any other ArcGIS supported format.
