<<< GSM Audio Files >>>
...hanks for the input so far. Heres the issue-- This is a production environment-- where many people "touch" the files. ie-- The audio engineer is a freelancer who wants to master the files at the highest quality TO HIS EAR and experience-- He knows NADA, Not a thing about SOX-- but is a ProTools GURU. The SOX resampled files work on our asterisk box-- but I gotta put someone else in the loop-- resampling the audio engineers .wav or .aiff files (hes a radio guy who works in .aiff at 44.1-32bit float) Im looking for a solution (software, and prefs) which will take the middle man (and S...

...d this doc-- but we need an answer which DOES NOT USE SOX: http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Convert+WAV+audio+files+for+use+in+Asterisk Can anyone please point me to, or post the correct way to produce a high quality, asterisk acceptable, GSM file WITHOUT using SOX? We will be using PROTOOLS-Mix-Plus, or can use PROTOOLS-HD to produce our audio files-- But are looking for ANY Macintosh or PC Audio-Production software suggestion , (outside of using SOX) which will take an .aiff or .wav file and turn it into a GSM file. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED- THANX. Thanks- J...

Quick bug in speexenc
Good day, a quick bug while encoding speexes in speexenc. While reading a .wav in function read_samples, size can get to negative values, as long as fread is able to go forward with reading the file. This can happen with Protools-generated wavs, where they put additional information after the "data" fourcc. I created a very quick hack by adding: int tentative_read = bits/8*channels* frame_size; if (*size < 0) { tentative_read = tentative_read + *size; /* Size is ne...

Feature Request: OS X / hfs+ / resources fork
...or hfs) filesystem, copy the resources fork to a file with filename starts with a dot and append the original filename. That's the current behaviour of samba client on OS X interacting with samba server on linux. The feature is important, as without the resources fork, some programs (like ProTools and Media 100 NLE) refuse to open the copied files. Thank you for consideration. Stephen Wong @ Hong Kong

Samba AD firewalld services
Now with firewalld, opening up ports is now 'better' done by opening services. So what do I need, for starters it seems: dns, dhcp, dhcpv6, samba, kerberos Here is the list of services: RH-Satellite-6 amanda-client bacula bacula-client dhcp dhcpv6 dhcpv6-client dns ftp high-availability http https imaps ipp ipp-client ipsec kerberos kpasswd ldap ldaps libvirt libvirt-tls mdns mountd

A possible use for multichannel ogg files!
...f course, only a single file would be needed to effect quite a number of "musician minus one" setups from a single recorded source! What we are not wanting in this "multichannel" format is Dolby 5.1, other ambisonic formats etc ... but a simple mix as per cubase, sonar, logic, protools etc etc but obiating the need for this expensive software! Anyone had similar thoughts??? Any views, for or against? We have a wonderful format here, we need to use it! If I am totally wrong, tell me! Thanks everybody for their answer. This is quite unfortunate for me, but hey, that's life. I will probably end up doing some multi mono bundle similar to what Protools did back in the days with its .L .R files ++ Le 26/01/2017 à 18:58, Martin Leese a écrit : > Federico Miyara wrote: > ... >> The file format allows some unused fields for future use, such as the >> padding block. Increasing number of channels?
...eo files, such that one 2-channel FLAC can take less space than two 1-channel FLAC files. However, the compression advantages stop at 2 channels. There is no cross-compression with channels beyond 2. You might as well store separate FLAC files and group them in a directory. Note that software like ProTools stores each channel in its own file. So, at least the original FLAC format supports more than that. I do often take advantage of the additional compression by converting audio recordings from dual mono files into a single stereo file before compression. There might still be a solution for you, th...

Increasing number of channels?
Per https://xiph.org/flac/faq.html#general__channels currently FLAC supports 1 through 8 channels. This is fine for 5.1 surround sound (6 channels). But some of the newer surround sound systems can handle many more channels. Is it still convenient to have all of the audio channels in one file for, say, a 16 channel audio track? I don't know much about the history of FLAC. How did this

With some common sense tweaks, a G4 450Mhz is a very
