mount points & multiples streams II
I have done some experimenting but if am incorrect I would like someone to correct me. I am trying to run multiple streams so what I have created additional directories such as mrock24, mRock64, and mRock128 in the '/etc/ices' directory . In these directories I have placed new conf files and playlist files respectively streaming 24, 64, and 128. These directories are also the name of the

Can anyone remind me of the reason for breaking the rhosts-rsa protcol (by not using a privilaged port by default)? -- Mike Stone

Silly question on DH key exch in ssh
hello, I'm also developing a ssh application in java and I also got stuck with DH-Key Exchange. I just get to the SSH_MSG_KEXDH_REPLY from the server. But what is he expecting me to send then, as far as I understand the Transport Layer Protcol I should send the SSH_MSG_NEWKEYS message, but that doesn't work. Does anyone know what to send then? (the hint from Markus Friedl with kexdh.c

NT4 RPC error browsing [homes]
I brought this up some time ago at comp.protcols.smb, which showed that others have run into the same problem, but so far I haven't found a solution anywhere. The problem is that since Y2K, I haven't been able to browse the auto homes share [homes] with Win NT4 (details below). Does anybody have any idea what the cause of this problem is...

Dovecot 2.0 config bug with SSL certificate per protocol?
Hi, yesterday I upgraded Dovecot from 1.2 to 2.0.11. I'd seen that there was a config file converter to make the upgrade smooth so was expecting it to be pretty quick and easy. In the end I spent a long time trying to get it working as it just wouldn't listen on the ssl ports, imaps and pop3s. I am using per portocol SSL certificates, as I was in version 1.2. The part of my

Can't browse network using nautilus
Hi, I'n using the nautilus file browser in a GNOME desktop environment on a FC2 system. If I enter smb:/// in the location bar in nautilus I can see the network but whenever I try to look at the shares on a computer I get a message saying that I do not have permissions to view the contents. I looked in the archives and found a thread on a similar problem. This thread mentioned that

Dangers of oplock break wait time
Hello, the man page is quite explicit about not fiddling with the oplock break wait time parameter unless one has understood the oplock code. Is there an explanation for this that doesn't require one to be fully read up on the SMB/CIFS protcols? :) What form of errors are we talking about? Race conditions? How dangerous is it? The thing is that we're having a lot of trouble related to the clients missing the break requests (the word/excel documents-take-time-to-open story). User's are getting seriously annoyed... so we have to do...

slow streaming but fast copy
Hi List, I have some very strange problems with samba on my shiny new server. The first problem was that file transfers were very slow (copying a file of 700Mb took 50 minutes over 100Mbit network). I checked other protcols (ftp/http/scp) on the server and they were able to use the 100Mbit link for full. After a lot of debugging, I found that the problem was related to oplocks. When disabling oplocks, the same file was copied in just under 2 minutes. However a second problem occured. Although copying files of the sam...

Trying to explain mutt+dovecot(ssl) to myself :(
Hi all, I have recently migrated my mail from courier-imap to dovecot. In doing so, I finally configured mutt to connect to imaps (SSL). In the end I got it all working. I then sat back and thought: "I kinda don't understand the SSL/TLS part even though it works". And I hate setting stuff up and not truely understanding the mechanics of it. So I started to write about it and am

[Bug 396] New: sshd orphans processes when no pty allocated
...d AIX, and probably occurs on others. # ssh localhost nc localhost 22 SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_3.4p1 [kill ssh from another window] # ps -eaf |grep nc dtucker 5919 1 0 21:05:08 ? 0:00 nc localhost 22 The following patch (against -cvs) sends a HUP to the child process(es) when sshd exits for protcols 1 and 2. It assumes that there's only one session for v1. (Is that valid?) It has been tested on Solaris 7 (including regression tests). ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee.

scp -t - revisited
Thanks to J.P. I now have a better understanding of how scp really works. I haven't uncovered any dark secrets, or unintended capabilities, I just prevented scp from sending the proper commands via ssh to the remote server. In essence, I gave scp a lobotomy or short-circuit. Either way, it's useful and gives me the desired effect. I don't know if anyone else would find this

SSH using Keys, no password and SFTP?
HI All, I have setup (and it was so easy) using SSH with keys instead of password authentication. I want to turn password authentication off completely. What I dont understand is how SFTP would work them. I dont see any settings in my FTP clients to use SFTP without providing a password. If that is the case, that is fine since the FTP users have no real privileges except to their own web

--write-batch just hangs?
I'm using rsync version 2.5.7, and I see this behavior with Debian and Redhat installations. This works: rsync rsync://mirror.physics.ncsu.edu/redhat/linux/updates/9/en/os/i386/zebra* ./temp But this doesn't: rsync --write-batch=mytest rsync://mirror.physics.ncsu.edu/redhat/linux/updates/9/en/os/i386/zebra* ./temp I've also tried with my normal args, like "-vvvvv --progress -t
