mount points & multiples streams II
...I am using to start each instance of ices are as follows: /usr/bin/ices /etc/ices/mrock24/ices.conf /usr/bin/ices /etc/ices/mrock64/ices.conf /usr/bin/ices /etc/ices/mrock128/ices.conf My questions is: Is this the correct way to set up mutiple streams? My unusual problem now is: When I enter 'protcol:ip:port/MountPoint' into the browser it attempts to download the stream as a file ('/MountPoint.mp3') instead of launching the default player. However if I enter 'protcol:ip:port/MountPoint' into a player such as winamp, xmms, or wmp it will play the stream. I am stumped but I gu...

change in rhosts-rsa behavior
Can anyone remind me of the reason for breaking the rhosts-rsa protcol (by not using a privilaged port by default)? -- Mike Stone

Silly question on DH key exch in ssh
hello, I'm also developing a ssh application in java and I also got stuck with DH-Key Exchange. I just get to the SSH_MSG_KEXDH_REPLY from the server. But what is he expecting me to send then, as far as I understand the Transport Layer Protcol I should send the SSH_MSG_NEWKEYS message, but that doesn't work. Does anyone know what to send then? (the hint from Markus Friedl with kexdh.c didn't help me much because I'm not familiar with c++ and I could not find a line of code where neither the server is expecting another messa...

NT4 RPC error browsing [homes]
I brought this up some time ago at comp.protcols.smb, which showed that others have run into the same problem, but so far I haven't found a solution anywhere. The problem is that since Y2K, I haven't been able to browse the auto homes share [homes] with Win NT4 (details below). Does anybody have any idea what the cause of this problem i...

Dovecot 2.0 config bug with SSL certificate per protocol?
...ecific certs for IMAP and for POP3. Also this isn't how dovecot 1.2 worked, there I specificed the protocols (pop3, pop3s, imap, imaps) and specificed the protocol certs and it worked. Anyway, I ended up just specifiing my pop3 certs as the global certs, this is then redefined in the pop3 protcol section etc. The config seems to work, but to me all this doesn't seem logical and doesn't work like in dovecot 1.2. Maybe this is something that can be cleaned up in the next version? thanks Andy.

Then comes a "session setup andx request, NTLMSSP_NEGOTIATE" message. In this message is a "Security Blob" section and part of this is "Calling workstation domain". This is set to WORKGROUP which is wrong for me and does...

Dangers of oplock break wait time
Hello, the man page is quite explicit about not fiddling with the oplock break wait time parameter unless one has understood the oplock code. Is there an explanation for this that doesn't require one to be fully read up on the SMB/CIFS protcols? :) What form of errors are we talking about? Race conditions? How dangerous is it? The thing is that we're having a lot of trouble related to the clients missing the break requests (the word/excel documents-take-time-to-open story). User's are getting seriously annoyed... so we have to d...

IMAP tuning for Outlook 365
...s mail - the free one (suprised me) ) I am running 26G of email, 150+ folders etc etc (some folders aproach 10000 emails - archived stuff) and no real issues on a replicated dovecot 2.3.19 server setup. What needs to be kept in mind is that Microsoft (espically 365) is trying to push exchange protcol and has all but dropped support for IMAP. Again open to comments but i recently was forced to use Outlook (Office 365) for a customer and ran into all of these issues yet again, i am weeding them off of Outlook in favor of thunderbird. FYI Happy Tuesday !!! Thanks - paul Paul Kudla Scom...

slow streaming but fast copy
Hi List, I have some very strange problems with samba on my shiny new server. The first problem was that file transfers were very slow (copying a file of 700Mb took 50 minutes over 100Mbit network). I checked other protcols (ftp/http/scp) on the server and they were able to use the 100Mbit link for full. After a lot of debugging, I found that the problem was related to oplocks. When disabling oplocks, the same file was copied in just under 2 minutes. However a second problem occured. Although copying files of the sa...

Trying to explain mutt+dovecot(ssl) to myself :(
Hi all, I have recently migrated my mail from courier-imap to dovecot. In doing so, I finally configured mutt to connect to imaps (SSL). In the end I got it all working. I then sat back and thought: "I kinda don't understand the SSL/TLS part even though it works". And I hate setting stuff up and not truely understanding the mechanics of it. So I started to write about it and am

PAM_unix[547]: (ssh) session closed for user dwp The error also occurs if I don't use RSAAuthentication, come in from a remote machine, or use SSH protcol version 2 (although with v2 the sig11s do not occur); in any of these cases, I get the same socket: Address family not supported by protocol error in my log and the connection drops, unless I turn off X forwarding. All this worked with no problem in Linux 2.4.0-test7 and earlier. Does anyone know...

[Bug 396] New: sshd orphans processes when no pty allocated
...d AIX, and probably occurs on others. # ssh localhost nc localhost 22 SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_3.4p1 [kill ssh from another window] # ps -eaf |grep nc dtucker 5919 1 0 21:05:08 ? 0:00 nc localhost 22 The following patch (against -cvs) sends a HUP to the child process(es) when sshd exits for protcols 1 and 2. It assumes that there's only one session for v1. (Is that valid?) It has been tested on Solaris 7 (including regression tests). ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee.

scp -t - revisited
Thanks to J.P. I now have a better understanding of how scp really works. I haven't uncovered any dark secrets, or unintended capabilities, I just prevented scp from sending the proper commands via ssh to the remote server. In essence, I gave scp a lobotomy or short-circuit. Either way, it's useful and gives me the desired effect. I don't know if anyone else would find this

SSH using Keys, no password and SFTP?
HI All, I have setup (and it was so easy) using SSH with keys instead of password authentication. I want to turn password authentication off completely. What I dont understand is how SFTP would work them. I dont see any settings in my FTP clients to use SFTP without providing a password. If that is the case, that is fine since the FTP users have no real privileges except to their own web

--write-batch just hangs?
...with the same results: Instead of any update, with the --write-batch=mytest argument, rsync just hangs. I've looked at the issue with strace and ethereal. What rsync _does_ do, in the --write-batch case, is: 1) connect to the server 2) find the directory 3) print the MOTD 4) exchange protcol versions (26) 5) create mytest.rsync_argvs, containing only "rsync --read-batch=mytest ${1:-./temp}", in the current working dir 6) calls brk successfully 7) calls select with a timeout of 60 sec, which times-out every time, indefinitely. Any ideas? -Chris
