ssh-keygen(1) misinfo: English prose entropy 0.6 - 1.3 b/char!
Quoth manpage: otherwise easily guessable (English prose has only 1-2 bits of entropy per word, and provides very bad passphrases). The passphrase can be Whoever wrote that manpage is either possessed of some amazing human insight to which I am not privvy, chose a very non-representative sample of English prose, or is just plain wrong. I know none of...

Regexpr. analyzer
Hi! I want to index html files, but w/o the tags, so I was thinking either I remove them before I index it (expensive), or put up an RegExpAnalyzer. BTW, when using an analyzer, does that mean that everything which it declines (i.e. the RegExpAnalyzer doesn''t match) won''t be put into the index files (i.e. blows it up)? I came up with a simple test, which didn''t

...nd thank you for doing so. It is a wonderful function. (0 sarcasm here). > For that reason, replacing the well defined precise > inequality-based definition by *much* less precise English prosa > is out of the question. I figured that might be an issue.? Would you be open to providing a prose translation, but putting that in the details? If so, it would be useful to get feedback on what parts of the prose I proposed are imprecise enough to be incorrect/incomplete for some corner case. Finally, would it make sense to move this discussion to bugzilla? Best, Brodie.

I am conflicted on publicly responding, but decided to clarify just in case your confusion is shared by others with better impulse control. Unfortunately, an unchallenged statement made in the company or under the scrutiny of experts is often assumed true, which is really the original

Indentation Conventions for Ruby and Cucumber

True, this is no prose, and true too there is no code yet, but I appreciate the effort, as someone who tries to get a herd of writers with some tabular data to include the data in the text. The alternative being, in fact, as heavy as implementing a database repository for the tables and including ugly imports in the mar...

[LLVMdev] Heads up: Pass Manager changes will be starting shortly
...Are you going to submit a proposal and RFC? > There have been several RFCs... What's your specific question? I'm planning to essentially try to build a new pass management layer that doesn't suffer from the problems the existing one does. I could describe every interface I plan in prose and email it out, but I'm not sure that's really the most effective way to do it. My plan has been to work on implementing the new system in-tree, and let folks code review it and pick it apart as usual. When folks are happy with it, and it works, then we can look at switching over. >...

Samba + (LDAP + Kerberos V)
...erberos V) Directory. Such that Windows is completely unaware of the existence of Kerberos. And, also such that I don't have to keep samba domain passwords in ldap and sync them to kerberos in some sort of bizarre otherworldly failure in authentication unification. (Pardon my attempts at prose I am working on 3 hours of sleep) The question is really one of what you might suggest in terms of a design, particularly if you have tried and/or done this in the past. I have heard at least with samba 2 what I am trying is impossible. Not sure with Samba 3. I am wondering if the Active Dire...

Eric Meyer about frameworks (Rails, too)
...ush, "you should absolutely try Ruby on Rails! It''s so easy! It''s almost like writing regular English!" Which means they''re clearly on crack, because Ruby on Rails is so very different from a human-written language that the few ways in which it sort of resembles prose, assuming you look at it under a dim light through a heavily fractured fresnel lens, serve only to confuse me further." Running UML on CentOS?
