Best way to do simple Samba for very small office.
...rience with many of the features that Samba surely offers. In this case I have installed a Samba server to replace an XP machine essentially because the office wants off-site back-up, and I know that on a Linux system I can easily script backups to http:// rsync.net and email the office's proprietor each morning to notify him of the backup's success. I can easily configure a simple simple share for everyone in the office to use, but the proprietor has expressed a desire for a folder that only he can access "using a password". How is the best way to so this? It's easy...

Your thoughts..
I need to get your thoughts on something.. :) I am trying to create a system to process the CDR call logs for department accounting.. I think there are two ways of doing it.. Either I can create an AGI that will run on the "h" extension and will lookup the last entry that matches the account code of the call that just ended in the MySQL CDR and calculate the call cost immediately..

Dovecot Stable (or: When is 1.0 coming to a server near you?)
I'm mainly just curious, but what version of dovecot is considered to be stable enough to be running in a production environment? We're running the 0.99.13 version shipped with FC3 and, while experiencing great performance gains over UW-IMAP, we have hit a couple of snags here and there (random and infrequent characters at the beginning of a mailbox, periodic duplication of a message

X-Lite and Call transfer using Asterisk
Hi, Anyone succeed using call transfer function in X-Lite? It is stated that this feature is available in the Lite version too, but for me it doesn't work. Clicking on Transfer button, then entering the number and then clicking again on transfer doesn't work. I miss something? Thanks, Dan

PHP Manager examples
Anyone have any example scripts in PHP that connect to the manager? I'm not really a much of a programmer so I could use boost. Once I can figure out how to get it to login properly, I'll be ok from there. Thanks, Kevin _____________________________________________________________ Are you a Techie? Samba + ACL backup solution
Hello all I am looking for a good backup solution for samba shares, I do not mean to start a jihad between rival backup religions, but I would appreciate any suggestions. I have tried star and love it, unfortunately there does not seem to be a gui or any frontend that can be used with it (it needs to be available to a couple of GUI-only (read as windows admin) people). Thanks again, Hamish

extreme performance requirements
We are trying to use Samba to serve as a file server to support an application requiring relatively low absolute bandwidth, but extremely low latency (think voice over IP). We find that while Samba (with Linux) gives very good performance compared to windows, we find that as time progresses, minimum latency seems to step up while under load from our application. It is almost as if the server is
